Propelling pencil edit

Edition 3 of Series 43 of BBC One's Antiques Roadshow, broadcast on 30 January 2021, featured a Sampson Mordan propelling pencil given to Terah Hooley, at Christmas 1896, by George Lawson Johnston, founder of the Bovril company. Earlier that year Terah Hooley and bought the Bovril company for £2 million, paying £5 6s 8d for every £1 share. In 2021 that sum would be equivalent to about £266 million [1] This was a remarkable figure because the Bovril directors themselves had valued their company at only around £1.5 million. The pencil was valued at between £2,000 and £3,000. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:54, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
