British Empire end

The year the British Empire ended is cited as 1997, but there are still colonial possessions in the form of British Overseas Territories. I assume the 1997 references the hand over of Hong Kong, however all this amounts to is a loss of 1 of the Overseas Territories.

It looks more like a euphemism for the Hong Kong handover and loss of most of the important ones, and not an actual end. Literally, it didn't end, since there are still colonial possessions. Particularly, the Falklands are a sign the Empire is still extant. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 13:13, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
