I am not persuaded that this is an accurate definition. A more common definition of this term in political science and journalism is "the media whose output is most often consumed by key policy makers, often known as elites--see power elite (per the prior entry.). Media elitism edit
The page refers to the pejorative sense but does not explain it -- I believe that like Liberal elite, in the United States the phrase "elite media" seems more commonly complimentary and "media elite" seems more typically the pejorative.
