Multiuser calls cannot be encrypted?

Encrypted by default

@134.100.186.60:, afaik from the linked source, https://github.com/vector-im/riot-web/issues/6779, riot still seems unencrypted by default. However, tot feel free to provide a newer/better source! Ancecdotally, from playing around with riot on my device, the rooms i made were not encrypted by default.

Element or Element.io?

Is the client software Element or Element.io? The official site speaks of Element, this article speaks of Element.io. Likewise, the same could've been said about its former name: Riot or Riot.im.

It seems New Vector is still the company behind it, despite announcements. And Element is more than the client? The citations given are contradicting each other. 84.250.17.211 (talk) 14:30, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

The client software is Element. The legal name of the company who builds Element is New Vector Ltd, but is now trading as Element (and will be renamed in future). Riot's name was originally Riot but then renamed as Riot.im to disambiguate from Riot Games. Element however is just called Element. Marviiin (talk) 10:01, 22 July 2020 (UTC)

I also removed the DMM reference, because it's a guest post, an opinion of someone. DeathMetalMods itself doesn't have an article on English and German Wikipedias. It is difficult to make any judgement other than the author (Lurz) to conclusively recommend Riot, with criticisms. Golem.de reception

While the following is probably no longer the case, I wrote this for the "Reception" section but didn't publish it in the article due to my feeling of its inclusion being undue weight. I couldn't find a good reference to say it to be something else today.

In 2017, German computer magazine Golem.de called Riot (and Matrix server) as "mature" and "feature-rich", while criticizing its key authentication at the time to be "anything but user-friendly" for many communicatees with multiple devices each. A co-founder of the project, Matthew Hodgson, assured the key verification process was a "placeholder" solution to work on.

Element.io → Element (software) – I believe "Element" to be the correct name. Formerly, this article was Riot.im. @Koavf moved it to Element.io today following the old article name, although all prior references in the article also called the software as "Riot" (not as Riot.im) – I've fixed this in the article body, to match the citations referenced. Likewise, what little primary sources and the official website say, they say "Element" (not "Element.io"). The proposed target's naming convention is similar to Discord (software). It should be noted though that per WP:NATURALDIS titles that do not require parentheses are preferred. • Support marviiin. The product is called Element, not Element.io. The only reason why Riot was renamed Riot.im was as a way to try to distinguish it from Riot Games, whereas Element is simply just 'Element'.
