Ian Macfarlan edit

Why is Ian Macfarlan counted as independent? I cannot find sources stating he was an independent. Marcnut1996 (talk) 06:56, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

From his ADB biography:[1] "In 1937, disenchanted with the U.A.P.'s strategic inflexibility, he left the party to serve as a liberal Independent, in which capacity he was a member (from July 1940) of the bipartisan State War Advisory Council. Persuaded to rejoin the party as deputy-leader to Thomas Tuke Hollway on the formation of a Country Party-U.A.P. coalition in September 1943..." The VEC link in this article also denotes the seat as independent-held 1937-43. The years definitely need to be added to the article, because that kind of vagueness invariably leads to confusion. Thanks a lot. I will add that content into the Ian Macfarlan article. I also agree that the years should be added, if known. Marcnut1996 (talk) 23:22, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
