Close paraphrasing edit

The entirety of the article after the lead is a close paraphrasing and translation of https://web.archive.org/web/20120409175028/http://www.elotroyo.com/prensa/biografia.html. The arrangement and structure of the articles are the same (see e.g. section headings), and sentences within each paragraph are very similar too. Here is an example:

From the biography on El Otro Yo's website:

"En el '98, luego de realizar más de 30 shows de invitados de Attaque 77 en el interior del país, y más de 15 en Capital y Gran Bs.As., se lanza un disco recopilación, que extrae las más destacadas canciones de "Esencia", que se titula bajo el nombre de "El Otro Yo del Otro Yo" y contiene 25 canciones. También editan, con Besótico, un libro que viene con un disco solista de María Fernanda, llamado "Entresueños". Ray sacó un libro de poesías llamado "El mar alado"."

Rough cleaned up machine translation:

"In '98, after performing more than 30 guest shows with Attaque 77 in the country and more than 15 in Greater Buenos Aires,a compilation album was released, extracting the most outstanding songs of "Esencia", titled "El Otro Yo del Otro Yo" and containing 25 songs. With Besotico, they also edited a book and solo album by Maria Fernanda called "entresuenos". Ray released a poetry book called "El mar alado"."

From this article:

"In 1998, after touring around the country with Attaque 77, they release a 25-song compilation album called EL OTRO YO DEL OTRO YO, which includes the most outstanding songs of ESENCIA. Besótico also releases a book and solo album by María Fernanda called ENTRESUEÑOS. At the same time, they release EL MAR ALADO, a poetry booked penned by Ray. "

As you can see, each of the sentences is closely paraphrased: the first sentences, for example, all include:

  • the year
  • it occurring "after" a tour around the country
  • the band they toured with
  • the length of the album and the album it took from (specifically "outstanding" songs)

The same applies to the other sections of the article. Per Wikipedia:Close_paraphrasing#Translation, even though these are statements of fact, the fact that the entire article is closely translated is a copyright problem. eviolite (talk) 16:50, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Update: as I have been informed on es.wiki here, it turns out that the biography on the band's website was originally copied from es.wiki, so it should technically fine. The edit summary for the diff that added the translation specifically said it was from their press kit's biography though, so I'm not sure what to do with it. I think it would be fine to leave it and add attribution to es.wiki, but I'd rather let someone more experienced make sure. eviolite (talk) 16:38, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
