Out of Sequence Plot Summary

Events regarding the theft and the opening of a salon are out of order:

Edward and the neighbor plan to open the Salon before the theft occurs. Edward goes to the bank with Peg Boggs to secure a loan to open the salon. However due to the lack of an SSN and therefore a credit history, he is denied a loan. Peg tells him that they will somehow find the money to open the salon. After this, Jim with Kim convince Edward to help them break into a house. Jim is trying to break into his own house for the purpose of (indirect) insurance fraud. [Jim's family is very wealthy, but Jim's father will not buy him a car. Jim feels that he is entitled to some of the money and wishes that he had a van like one of his friends. Jim's father does not trust him and locks part of his house and has it on a separate alarm system. Jim convinces Kim to help him steal stereo equipment among other things and pawn it for cash since it will hurt no one as his father has insurance. For this plan, they need Edward to pick the lock.] Edward opens the lock and the alarm goes off. Jim and Kim run from the house. Kim insists that they go back and tell the police what happened but Jim will not. Kim is too afraid/scared to go the police by herself. During the scene at the dinner table where Mr. Boggs asks Edward the ethics question, Peg states that stealing is not what she meant by finding some way. Later we learn that Edward knew that it was Jim's house but still helped Jim and Kim because Kim asked him to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.151.202.100 (talk) 19:50, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Budget vandalism

I'm a wiki noob... I'm guessing this is vandalism and needs to be fixed:

Budget $200,000,000,000,000,000

Someone please fix that. Thanks24.96.242.143 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.96.242.143 (talk) 21:26, August 30, 2007 (UTC)

Horror?

How is this a horror? Romance/comedy/fantasy. Any of those would be fine. --66.218.28.246 02:12, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Good question. I thought this was a drama. --  Shane (talk/contrib) 00:08, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Michael Jackson

Any proof that Michael Jackson "seriously wanted the role"? Sounds fishy to me. CJHung 08:02, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, he does wear MJ's costume from the video for Bad. CranberriesEggSalad

POV / Original research

Looks like there's quite a lot of unconfirmed rumours (Michael Jackson, casting, etc) and original research. AFAIK interpreting motifs and themes is only ok if it is referenced from some primary source. --62.237.40.150 17:32, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Peter Pan?

Peter Pan can hardly be called a "literary antecedent" to Edward Scissorhands, at least according to the reasons given in the article. Unless there is more evidence showing a relation between the two, I propose we delete that section.ThatKid 05:41, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Robert Smith..

There are alot of rumuors that Edward Scissorhands' look was based off of Robert Smith of the Cure (pale skin, wild hair) Maybe it should be mentioned?

Japanese dub actors

I felt like listing these because I felt they should be mentioned.

Expand?

I think the soundtrack should be integrated into the article. It contains danny elfman's favourite score, and is loved by the Edward Scissorhands community (personally, it is beautiful). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.178.246.85 (talk) 05:43, 31 March 2007 (UTC).

Struwwelpeter

The whole Struwwelpeter paragraph should be removed. It is an uncited and unsubstantiated reference, no matter how closely the two may seem to be related. Can anyone find some support for it? Did Burton say this in any intereviews? Also, be wary of sentences that say a movie was "apparently inspired" by something.

Indeed, the entire "Literary Antecedents" section should be removed as OR, regardless of how "obvious" the similarities. Anyone object? Doctormatt 16:44, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
No objection. I've done it. —Angr 18:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Re-write

I'm in the middle of expanding this article and in order to improve its qaulity, i'll need some useful websites if people now of any. James Morton (User) 15:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate all your research, but please slow down to check your prose. Also, I suggest using citation templates to make references look neater. Alientraveller 14:28, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

grammar mistake?

"The plot focuses on Avon lady Peg Boggs encounters meets a young, shy, quirky and bizarre looking man named Edward..."

The first sentence in the second paragraph may have a grammar mistake, but because of how it was worded I'm not sure if I'm missing something between "Peg Boggs" and "encounters". I'm thinking an "as she" should be added, but again, I'm not sure. Thanks, stealthymatt 00:48, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Citation needed

I added a citation needed tag early in the article because 1) Edward Scissorhands wasn't "modestly" successful for the time, it was one of the biggest hits and most financially successful films at the box office in 1990, that's not "modest," and 2) saying it's a popular fable with adults and kids alike sounds too much like praise and not in keeping with a neutral, encyclopedic tone. If anyone disagrees, that's fine, I'm just making a note of it here. 08:08, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
