win vs granted edit
Using the word "win" is very misleading. Montealegre didnt WIN a seat in congress, he was granted one as a concillation prize. In order to win something, you must have been in its pursuit. He did not run for congress, he ran for president- and lost. He was subsequently granted a seat in congress. On banks edit
acquired failed banks is POV. Banco Mercantil has been judicially determined to have been completely viable when it was auctioned of irregularly to Bancentro at 1/3 its value. - The way the story is told is that the banks could not pay. They went broke. I recall an acquaintance was worried about Banco del Cafe (since he had money there) and had a couple of very stressful days. If Mercantil is any different, a source would be good.
