It's possible that you may be thinking of Doctor Philastus Hurlbut, who was an excommunicated member who turned against the church and helped create much of the content of the book Mormonism Unvailed. I'll check it further, but I don't think that Howe actually ever had anything to do with the church.Bochica 01:34, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
