Eat Your Kimchi is a video blog and production company based in South Korea created by and featuring Simon and Martina Stawski.[1] Eat Your Kimchi has garnered significant attention,[2] gaining over 1.2 million YouTube subscribers and 250 million total views on its primary YouTube channel.[3]

The Stawskis primarily look at life in South Korea in Eat Your Kimchi videos, educating viewers about Korean food, culture, life, and work.[1]

History edit

In 2008, the Stawskis moved to South Korea from Toronto to take jobs as English teachers.[4] The Stawskis decided to document their experiences in Korea via video after arriving in South Korea, initially to calm down family members and friends regarding violence from North Korea against the South.[1] They continued to document their experience, soon doing so not solely to reassure family and friends, but to educate people about Korean life.[5]

The videos accumulated attention and became very popular. The popularity has lead Eat Your Kimchi to be interviewed and featured in many media outlets. The Stawskis currently rely on their ad revenue as their primary income stream, which has allowed them to blog full-time.
