Ekco Lighting Limited, Ekco-Ensign Electric Ltd edit

There's no information about Ekco Lighting Limited in this article. There's some information about them here [1]. Seems to have changed its name from Ekco-Ensign Electric Ltd in 1967 [2]. Seems to have become related to Thorn Lighting at some point. Sadg4000 (talk) 11:37, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ekco Ensign edit

According to The Times newspaper archive, Ensign Lamps was based in Preston, and was acquired by Ekco in 1943. In 1950, Ekco sold 51% of Ekco-Ensign Electric Ltd. to Thorn Electrical Industries. Following the merger of Ekco with PYE in the early 60s, the combined group disposed of its share holding in Ensign sometime afterwards. (A. Carty (talk) 13:29, 6 June 2009 (UTC))Reply

The EKCO company were also quite prominent in post-war airborne radar - see here; [3] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.7.147.13 (talk) 20:59, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ekco household products in U.S. edit

In the USA there's a line of household (primarily kitchen) products -- can openers, graters, and the like -- marked "EKCO". Is that this company? I had always guessed that EKCO in this case stood for Eastman Kodak Corporation and that this "EKCO" had been spun out at some point, since Eastman manufactured all sorts of random stuff to use up excess capacity in the plants where it made industrial and photographic equipment at one point or another — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tls (talkcontribs) 06:52, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The American company mentioned above was founded in 1888 by Edward Katzinger in Chicago, Illinois and later became known as the EKCO® Housewares Company.[4] It would appear to be an entirely separate entity from the British EKCO company.(A. Carty (talk) 13:10, 27 February 2011 (UTC))Reply

I would like to see this info added to the article. I only hesitate because it's relevant only to the U.S. David Spector (talk) 00:44, 10 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
