City or town? edit
Throughout this article Dunkeld is referred to as a town. Surely, as it has a cathedral, it is a city. Indeed I have always understood it to be Scotlands smallest city.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.20.28.95 (talk) 27 November 2006

- Bit of a late reply, but no, Dunkeld is not a city. City status in Scotland is conferred by royal charter and only 6 towns have been given this: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Stirling. The presence of a cathedral is irrelevant. Request that the merger of Dunkeld & Birnam is removed edit
As residents of the ancient Highland town of Dunkeld we request that the merger between Dunkeld and Birnam be removed and returned to the original format. These two communities, although closely connected in many respects, are separated by a great deal more than a river.
