Copyvio? edit

Most of the page’s content comes directly from the about page of college’s own Web site. It was added (diff) July 28, 2005, by user 198.178.148.59. Soon after, Kamezuki requested cleanup, and later performed that cleanup (diff) by adding headings and re-arranging some of the words. As I read this article, it seemed like something that came from the college itself, so I wasn’t surprised to find most of the same paragraphs elsewhere. —Rob Kennedy 15:36, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The ip is on the Dordt network see 'whois 198.178.148.59'. Neutrality is the wrong gripe, the article is a pretty good description of the college. Copyright is a bigger concern. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.32.34.219 (talk) 03:56, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Define "rural campus"? edit

Not only am I a Dordt student, but I am on campus even as I type. I can tell you for a fact that this campus is surrounded on all sides by the city of Sioux Center. Why, then, is it judged to be rural? Exactly what constitutes a "rural" campus. (Other than a reference in U.S. News & World Report that doesn't even use the two words together.) 173.233.33.218 (talk) 04:08, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Recent addition edit

This article could certainly benefit from more information. However, I am removing a recent paragraph added to the introduction, asserting that the college was "under fire" for violation of the Iowa Civil Rights Act and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The only citation provided is the faculty handbook, which include college behavioral policy. Otherwise, no additional citations are provided supporting the claim of the college bein "under fire" or relevant case law indicating that private institutions of higher learning can no longer set their own behavior expectation and standards. Specifically:
Dordt College was recently brought under fire due to a section in their staff handbook that barred 'transgendered behaviour' as well as 'homosexual relations', which is against the law due to the Iowa Civil Rights Act and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

If these claims are true, such assertions should be properly cited and included in a section titled "Controversy".Jsniessen (talk) 20:07, 9 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Trump campaign rally edit

The auditorium was the site of an important address by candidate Donald J. Trump on January 23, 2016 during the campaign for the 2016 Iowa Republican presidential caucuses.

I don't see the necessity of using the word "important" here. In an encyclopedia, we describe the address rather than assigning some kind of ambiguous importance. In this particular case, the word "importance" should be replaced with "Trump campaign rally". Viriditas (talk) 22:31, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
