Health? edit

A relation of Donncha O'Malley was on Newstalk tonight and she said he died at 47 years of age from alcoholism. Not a word about it in the death section here.188.141.10.11 (talk) 21:03, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

According to "Unfulfilled Promise", O'Malley was in Alcoholics Anonymous for years. He had a drinking problem while a backbencher which probably contributed to long term health problems that led to his death. His widow specialised in treating alcoholics in her psychiatric work.

However it would not be accurate for Wikipedia purposes to declare alcoholism as the cause of death, his AA attendance is ultimately unverifiable and he was probably not an outlier in the hard drinking culture of the time. Taibhseoir (talk) 10:16, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
