Donny Benet is a pseudonym. edit

As has been noted (but subsequently deleted) several times recently in this article, Donny Benet is a pseudonym used by Ben Waples.

Ben discusses his alter ego here: https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/musicshow/donny-benet-mr-experience-jazz-chris-cody-astrolabe-la-perouse/12270762; listen to the audio!

The references in this article are from journalists who fell for the gag. The Donny Benet backstory - about his father, Las Vegas, etc - is hilarious, and almost certainly untrue. - Ghastlyman (talk) 23:33, 13 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

No kidding. I did a bit of digging and added his birth name / year and indicated that Donny Benet is a stage name in this edit back in April, but it was promptly removed a few days later – either by someone from his team, or maybe a fan who doesn't want to give up the illusion. We deal in facts here at Wikipedia and it would seem disingenuous to perpetuate the myth about his backstory etc, as amusing as it is (and I love his music FWIW). I don't feel like I have the authority to go pushing the point again. Does someone else want to reinstate that info? Gibbsyspin 00:38, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
(Ghastlyman) Glad you posted. But it’s a pain: no time counter, or skip, for me (in my iPhone11); says 54 minutes but it’s about 20 min with Donny. The Waples bit is about 6 minutes in, after 2 minutes of (surprisingly) geeky synthesiser talk. MBG02 (talk) 07:21, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I reckon Charlotte’s Web (with Geoffrey O’Connor) deserves its own article. At least: a mention here (in this article). MBG02 (talk) 07:21, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Comment: I have reinstated some of it - but in the body paragraph. The initial citation of the real name in the edit log came from a government website which some people may find violating. I suppose a few sources like NME and varying magazines who got in touch with Benet is better off citing, as NME indicates that Donny Benet is a pseudonym, too.--Misterpither (talk) 12:02, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
