Seeking consensus to use Wuwei Rear Troop as official name edit
I have no objection to names like Muslim Kansu Braves for Dong Fuxiang Army before they came to Peking, but during the Boxer Rebellion times, Dong's army was given a new name and grouped under the command of Wuwei Troop, with Ronglu as Dong's superior commander. We need to use the official name at that time, to avoid any confusion. Arilang talk 01:48, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
Yong(Chinese:勇 English:Braves) was the official name of the local militia, exactly what Muslim Kansu Braves were. Only after they were official recruited into the Imperial Army as the Wuwei Rear Troop, they could then enjoyed the full benefit of the Imperial Army system, including pay and rations. After that, the name was changed changed into Bing (Chinese:兵 English:soldiers), and they were no longer Yong(Chinese:勇 English:Braves), so the name Muslim Kansu Braves is no longer accurate after their recruitment. Wikipedia should not use any name knowing it is an error. Arilang talk 14:22, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
Dong Fuxiang's religion edit
Page 109 of this book indicates that he was in fact not muslim, but commanded muslim troops. The consular officer who wrote the book said that he though dong was a muslim but was told directly that he was a non muslim han chinese who commanded muslim soldiers.

A Horribly innacurate account of dong fuxiang's role in the boxer war- his troops never went near ketteler, and the russians in real life screwed up badly when trying to enter beijing, getting over two dozen of themselves killed and over a hundred wounded, while this book portrays the allies as facing virtually no resistance
