Most of the article text is copied from http://www.donpullen.de/biogra_e.htm, so there is a possible copyright problem. However, it may be that the author, Mike Bond, approved, because the statement at the end, This brief biography is compiled from notes for a future more detailed study, is one I might attribute to an author. Also, one revision was signed MCB, which I can interpret as Mike Bond's initials. So I am not flagging it for a potential copyright violation but mentioning it here.

Because of the possible copyright problem I have limited my edits for the most part to adding headings and subheadings, links, and citation format. Previous revisions mistakenly used boldface instead of correct link syntax and I have corrected all of those.

One the copyright issue is cleared up, all references to "Don" need to be changed to "Pullen", as with other first name references such as "George", "Dannie", etc. There are many NPOV problems, notably the paragraph beginning But it is better not to concentrate too much on his technique

I contacted the author, Mike Bond, through the webmaster of http://www.donpullen.de, and learned that Mike originally wrote the article for Wikipedia and posted it, and then put it up on http://www.donpullen.de. So Wikipedia is not in copyright violation, though it would be good to put this on the record officially.

From Mike Bond: I just want to confirm that there is no copyright violation in the article I put on Wikipedia. I consider that there is no copyright existing in this or the similar text on www.donpullen.de, which was put up by the webmaster with my agreement.

This is definitely not in the NPOV spirit:

"By chance, unfortunately for his future commercial success if not for his musical development, his first contact on arriving on the New York scene was with the free players of the 1960s, with whom he recorded. It was some years later before his abilities in more straight-ahead jazz playing, as well as free, were revealed to a larger audience."

With a musician like Don Pullen who oscillates so frequently between what is considered "free jazz" and "traditional jazz," it's likely that that any given listener will be biased toward one or the other. We should try our best to let people decide which "side" of Don they prefer on their own.

The sentence implies that his musical development might have been stunted by his association with "free jazz" musicians. This is biased speculation and not actual research. A NPOV has to be adhered to.--Roivas 20:59, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

This article would benefit greatly from the use of references. This whole article is speculation. Don Pullen deserves a lot better. I don't know very much about the subject and can't enhance the content of this entry. Fixing a few grammatical problems won't make it much better.

Cleanup and POV issues

I only intended to come through here and create an infobox and add a photo I found for the article. I couldn't believe the amount of POV issues and lack of wikification throughout this article! I added copyediting, and wording, etc. to my other work listed above but the article still needs help. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:50, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

The hyperlink for "Roots" is for the Jimmy Fallon house band. The group Pullen played with is different.
