Enrollment Numbers edit

To summarize the situation: Originally, the enrollment was listed to be 1246. Shamus changed it to 1247, but Austin says that the District website states otherwise. Can I have the link, Austin? Alright, I changed the enrollment number to 1246. However, speaking of citing that website, the article needs a reference section. Article References edit

As mentioned above, the DEHTMS article needs sources. I have several websites that the content of the page is based on, including the district page above. However, I don't understand how to cite sources in Wikipedia. I can make a reference section at the bottom, but I don't know how to create the little superscript notations in the text to link to them. If you can set up a sample one using the district page for the enrollment numbers, I can copy it for the rest of the sites. Thanks! Austinpow 22:46, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've done the first reference. However, citing references is quite complex, and I'm not completely sure how to do it myself. See Help:Footnotes for the format and Wikipedia:Citation templates for templates. A few pointers:
  • Be sure to use <ref> (your citation) </ref> so that it will show up in the References section.
  • Whenever you are using the District website, use "District Website" in the "name=" parameter of the tag. If you are using the same source multiple times throughout the website, always use name="name of source" in the citation tag. That way, the source won't be listed multiple times in the References section.
  • Leave the References section alone. The <references/> tag there will automatically list references as you cite them in the article's main body.

Dragon's Den edit

I just realized that maybe we ought to add a section on the Dragon's Den into the article. What's your opinion? If we do incorporate the Dragon's Den into the article, then Austin should probably head it, along with any other people who take Broadcast Communications. Sue H. Hmm, I see. Perhaps we can just briefly mention main points such as the primary features (sports, weather, etc.), the airing time, key staff involved (that would be Mr. Stansell), etc. I'm sure that would suffice; nevertheless, since you're the star of the Dragon's Den and know more about this than me, do whatever you see fit. About the deleted YouTube video: The reason it was deleted was not because it was irrelevant to the article, but because it could perhaps infringe upon the creator of that video's copyright. However, you were the one who posted the video in the first place. Do you think that it would still be considered copyright infringement if you, the creator of the video, posted it yourself? Courses and Extra Curricular activities edit

Earlier I was using the 2006-2007 Course Description document on Edline to work on the Courses section. Here are several questions pertaining to this and the Extra Curricular Activities:

  • On Edline, Programming is subdivided into Introductory and Intermediate levels. How does this correlate with Virtual Pascal and C++? Does Introductory use Pascal and Intermediate use C++?
  • Should we list Broadcast Communications as "Broadcast Communications, Digital Design and Animation" or by its more commonly used name?
  • Should we list Teen Challenges (Home Economics) as Family and Consumer Sciences or as it is now?
  • Are Hardware and Networking a single class or a separate class? The 8th Grade Course Description lists them as a single class; the 7th Grade Course Description lists Hardware by itself but does not mention Networking.
  • Soccer and Volleyball are listed as having Boys and Girls teams. Do the rest of the sports (Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Softball, Swim Team, Tennis) also have Boys and Girls teams?
  • Of the extra-curricular activities, how many should be linked to their respective Wikipedia articles? For example, it is appropriate to link Academic Games since it is relatively obscure. However, should more well-known activities such as Baseball also be linked? I'm not sure where to draw the line.

Infobox; "Family Crest?" edit

I added an Infobox for the school to cut down on useless sections of the article. Also, I removed text referring to the school logo as the Estridge family crest. Can someone justify this? --AZ'sReincarnation 15:24, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
