Talk:Dominion Cove Point LNG

Latest comment: 2 years ago by 173.73.44.213 in topic Pipeline

This doesn't seem to be correct: Most recently, Dominion Resources and Dominion Cove Point have come under fire for their plan to convert Cove Point from an import facility to an export facility. Opponents of the plan say that increased demand for natural gas would cause a fracking boom across the mid-Atlantic. They also argue that exports would lead to a spike in gas prices, hurting small businesses and families on a budget. According to the NERA Economic Consulting Analysis commissioned by the U.S. Department of Energy, exporting natural gas harms every major sector of the U.S. economy, except the gas industry. The proposed liquefaction project has been approved and Cove Point has begun construction with the target date of late 2017 to begin exporting LNG from the facility.

If you pull up the NERA report and look at pages 76-78, it is quite supportive of LNG exports. Needs an expert to clean this up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bigdogproductions (talkcontribs) 20:10, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Cove point reconstruction has long been completed and overseas export of LNG commenced some time ago.--dunnhaupt (talk) 14:40, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Pipeline edit

There's no mention of the pipeline that feeds the plant from the west.

Dominion tried to add a 38,000 HP booster compressor in Bryans Road MD, across the Potomac from Mt. Vernon, and ran into massive operation. They gave up but will likely try again nearby.
