This article is far too small! I think it is such a pity that you can read such a grand article like Disneyland then go to the Disneyland Resort which technically is more important (don't take that the wrong way). Any suggestions for new material? Birds-eye views of the complex, descriptions of hotels, history and development? Senior management? Speedway 11:50, 10 April 2005 (UTC) Perhaps someone can do a little overview on the evolution of The Disneyland Resort itself. At one point, the resort was just Disneyland and than you had just Disneyland Hotel with it. You also had the old Disney campground (gone). Later the Paradise Pier Hotel was purchased and added. Than you had the major changes when California Adventure was added. Someone also needs to toss in the plans for a third park, on nearby Disney-owned lands. --Mrskippy 08:18, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Per the article, Disneyland Resort as an entity is only five years old; there's not much history to tell (plus I suspect much of that history is in the Disneyland article). Powers 14:25, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Correction for the Operations: Transportation section

I'm not sure how edits are done here on the main Wikipedia, so I'll leave it up to someone else, but I can say for certainty that this statement is no longer accurate:
"Parking lot trams provide free transportation from esplanades located to the west and east of the theme parks' main entrance to the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure, and to the Timon lot with access to the Katella crosswalk Anaheim Convention Center, respectively."
As of July 6, 2009, the Timon Parking area is permanently closed and tram service is discontinued. Additionally, the Katella Street crosswalk to the convention center is closed as there is no access through that area to the Main Entrance. For anyone interested, the reason for this is the Disney's California Adventure expansion plans, as this will eventually become a new land called "Radiator Springs" based on the Disney-Pixar movie Cars.
I am providing this information as a current Resort Transportation & Parking Cast Member, and I would be happy to answer any questions. RubyTuesday425 (talk) 10:22, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Corrected accordingly. I figured it was only a matter of time before Timon closed for the expansion. I was a longtime CM but no longer live in the area and thus don't really hear/notice such news. KuyaBriBriTalk 20:44, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
We lost about half of the lot in November and they waited until after Grad Nite before a permanent closure. The original plan was for the trams to go back to Simba (behind the Paradise Pier Hotel), but unofficial word is that the City of Anaheim said no to trams with guests on city streets. If any other major changes take place, I'll be sure to stop by here again and let you all know. Thanks for the help with getting the edit done. RubyTuesday425 (talk) 11:47, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Opening date in lead

Having Disneyland's opening date in the lead sentence is not critical. Per WP:LEAD, "The article should begin with a declarative sentence telling the nonspecialist reader what (or who) is the subject." In other words, if we only had one sentence to answer the question "What is the Disneyland Resort?", its opening date is not that important. That's not to say that the information is not important at all, as it does appear in the text of the article.

And frankly, if you want to argue semantics, it was "Disneyland" or "Disneyland Park" that opened in July 1955, not "Disneyland Resort". The latter was coined sometime in the late 1990s. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Third park

Why isn't there any mention of the plans to build a third park? Disney once had a website that described some of their plans for the strawberry field they purchased just for that purpose.108.23.147.17 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:23, 13 October 2011 (UTC).

I presume you mean the strawberry farm at 1946 S Harbor Boulevard? It wasn't used to build a third park in the end, it was used as parking space. This parking space is now what is known as "Disney Theme Parks Parking" and is the primary carpark for Disneyland Resort. It's possible that this will be reclaimed after Eastern Gateway has been built, but I doubt that will be soon, as they have sold Eastern Gateway as increasing the amount of parking space available. Furthermore, they still don't own the small amount of land in between this land and their main resort (which is currently used by various hotel, restaurant and retail establishments). Mention of land split at DCA

My edit was reverted by @James Allison:. This described how one land (Paradise Pier) is going to be split into two lands (Pixar Pier and Paradise Park). This is effectively creating a new land at DCA, as the total number of lands will increase from 7 to 8. On the other hand, the creation of a new land (Star Wars Land) at Disneyland Park is thought to be notable enough to mention. Also, I fail to see how the building of a new carpark or a ban on ticket taxes are considered more notable than this increase in the number of lands at DCA. I am already aware that it's mentioned on the DCA main article, but I am not able to understand why it's not notable enough to be mentioned on the main resort article as well. Kidburla (talk) 17:56, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

It's hardly a "new land", it's a cosmetic redesign of one half of Paradise Pier and a simple rename of the other half. It has been barely covered in reliable sources. On the other hand, Star Wars Land has massive media coverage and is one of the largest expansions in park history. I agree that as written, the ticket tax ban and new construction do need some work, but they are part of controversial government subsidies that have been covered in national media [1] [2] Further, they are appropriately mentioned in this article as this article covers the resort as a whole. A relatively minor change in one park can and should be adequately discussed in that park's article. James (talk/contribs) 22:54, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Future expansion

With the conflict of what may or may not be happening due to the hold on the fourth Disneyland Resort hotel, I think it would be good to mention that Earl of Sandwich will soon be returning to Downtown Disney. DisneyParks Blog HthrT (talk) 03:09, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

In March 2018, it was announced that bug's land would close in September of 2018. It would be replaced by a Marvel-themed land that is set to open in 2020.[1] ColleenFimbres (talk) 05:46, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
