Background section is oddly written compared to similar pages

edit

The background section should be rewritten so as to resemble similar pages. The 'personality' and 'appearance' subsections are mainly what I am talking about and I have just never seen it done this way in other articles. It reads more like a clinical case study rather than a Wikipedia article. The information contained within the sections is good, perhaps the sections should be consolidated into the 'Background' section without subsection headers. I can do it.

Can you please specify what you find strange about this? I have read several dozen Wikipedia articles on disappearances and I cannot see a consistent style for the writing of this section. In my opinion, there are simply too many differences to speak of a fixed structure.
I have used three paragraphs to cover three different topics. First Mekayla's family life, then her personality and finally her distinctive physical features. The first two of these three paragraphs are quite common in articles of this kind. Only the third topic is rare, but not completely unknown.
So if you are concerned about this paragraph, let me explain why I included it. Wikipedia is not a "Most Wanted" list, but it is by far the most widely used site for reliable information on the internet. One of my reasons for creating this page was to raise awareness. I think I succeeded in that, because I could see that several recent articles about her disappearance have clearly taken information from my article. But that also means that this page is the first one where people read about it, certainly much more than the police report about her disappearance. So I thought this page would be a good opportunity to also include the information that is normally provided by the police to help with the search. This could be a - admittedly small - contribution to the case getting some much needed new leads. Kjansen86 (talk) 20:11, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
