Talk:Directed ortho metalation

Latest comment: 7 years ago by V8rik in topic Nicotinamide lithiation figure error

I'm not sure if the context of this article is right for it, but closely related α-metalation (of, e.g., thiophene and furan, in which the heteroatom facilitates deprotonation at the adjacent carbon) could fit in well on this page and should be mentioned either here or on its own page. Also, the mechanism of ortho-lithiation is actually pretty interesting; there is a distinction made between kinetically controlled "coordination-only" lithiation and thermodynamically controlled "acid-base" lithiation in which the substituent affects the acidity of the aromatic ring protons only through induction, not by coordinating to the base. Inclusion of this concept would be awesome for this page. See p. 10-12 of this review. --OrganicReactions (talk) 17:26, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nicotinamide lithiation figure error edit

This figure references 10.1021/jo0620359, where the lithiation is performed on the tertiary diethyl amide, not the primary. With the latter, this reaction would almost certainly not proceed. --129.105.149.247 (talk) 22:30, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Direct / Directing Metalating Group edit

I am not a native english speaker, so I don't know wheteher or not I am right. As I feel it, the first word word should read "Directing" in stead of "Direct". Can anyone clearify this? T.vanschaik (talk) 15:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
