The article is contradictory as it stands. According to the definition on the page, a translation is a dilation. A translation does not have a fixed point, however.
Readability edit

Possible Duplication edit
Is this the same as Scaling (geometry)? Should the articles be merged? Rojomoke (talk) 15:59, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- No, for two reasons:
- The transformations described in the scaling algorithm don't allow for rotations; the ones here do, and
- This is about general metric spaces, not just Euclidean spaces.
