Demteria link edit

While I agree that the name Demi derives from Demetria, the link for 'Demetria' leads to the description of a fictional planet from a comic book. Perhaps a seperate page should be created for the name Demetria, otherwise, that link should be removed. 89.159.198.29 (talk) 17:51, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Different subjects in one article edit

Hi, these article seems to discuss two entirely different subjects: the first three sentences are about the prefix demi-, meaning half, while the rest of the article is about the given name Demi. As noted, this name is probably a shorter form of Demetria/Demetrios (see for example the Greek singer Demy, whose real name is Dimitra). Or were people who named their daughter Demi trying to convey that there child was only a halfling? As it is, the article should be split, in my opinion. Or maybe the first part is more something for the Wiktionary and for the general disambiguation page (Demi (disambiguation)). Bever (talk) 14:09, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

The listing of this name abbreviation does not give any examples of its French origins. The examples list derivatives based on Greek names, however, ignore the use of French descendants to use Demi or Demmy to indicate a relative, much like the use of "junior" in English. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tenomed (talkcontribs) 22:29, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
