Rename edit

Massacre is not proper name. It should be moved into clashes or fighting.--ChronicalUsual (talk) 11:25, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why not a massacre? it is supported by sources ([1],[2]) and there is a past precedent (Hama massacre and April 1981 Hama massacre). If you suggest to rename per WP:COMMONNAME, i think let's do an official rename proposal, if there is a majority - you will be entitled to rename.Greyshark09 (talk) 16:47, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Because the word massacre is improper. Not only the death toll are only from opposition but they can't agree at all on what happenned. More important is that a battle with high number of casualties is never called a massacre. --ChronicalUsual (talk) 17:05, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hama massacre was a battle with comletely wild estimation range of civilian casualties (1,000-80,000) and a significant number of soldiers (~1,000) and militants (~200-500) killed. Greyshark09 (talk) 17:11, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
This is not relevent, there were better sources, by far a larger number of people killed. You just don't call massacre a battle where a disputed number of 400 people died, evenly split in both sides. Wikipedia is becoming more and more activists like, even taking their titles and sentences. --ChronicalUsual (talk) 17:15, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry for your discontent with wikipedia, but the choice you have is to make an official rename proposal.Greyshark09 (talk) 18:26, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Greyshark, for reasons stated in his/her response. Sopher99 (talk) 18:23, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I don't agree with Greyshark, Hama was most probably much larger and involving far more civilians and April 1981 Hama massacre was just a slaughter of civilians. If Wissam Tarif is to be believed all but 9 casualties in this case were military personnel and defectors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.97.18.220 (talk) 00:26, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
