Decca and World War 2
Maybe I am wrong. But the article gives the impression that British and American Decca split up because of World War 2. I think the split happened in 1946 and it wasn't the result of World War 2.24.167.105.97 (talk) 23:15, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- If you read the chronology on page 15 of the special 1954 Billboard issue, you will see that Sir Edward Lewis sold his interest in American Decca in 1939 when World War II broke out in Europe. Continuing on to page 50, stock in Decca Records Inc (American Decca) was traded on the New York Stock Exchange effective January 5, 1942. Steelbeard1 (talk) 01:28, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- In 1939 it was made law in the US that British-owned US companies had to be sold off to US buyers before any loans would be made available to Britain for buying US arms.
