Talk:Deathstalker (series)

Latest comment: 7 years ago by Jclemens in topic Merging Deathstalker Universe

Expanded on the Campbell entry, added one for the Wolfes, and for the various factions of the rebellion (ELF, cyberats, and Hadenmen). We need an article on the cyberate and the Hadenmen, along with Valentine Wolfe and possibly Finlay Campbell.

Plagiarism edit

I remember a scene from one of the audio recordings - I don't remember which - which was practically a word-for-word lift from the scene in Star Wars: A New Hope where they are escaping Tattooine. The dialogue involves (1) shields (2) "why can't we just go into hyperspace?" (3) "going into hyperspace ain't like (blank) - you could wind up inside a planet or star." I think this should be addressed. 130.111.63.98 02:52, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is that plagiarism, or is that an homage to George Lucas? It wasn't a wielder of mystic energies, his young apprentice, and a dashing scoundrel of a space pilot talking about it, after all. -- Raveled 03:49, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, no, it was literally a line-for-line lift; the people weren't the same but the dialogue was. There's a difference between homaging something and outright stealing it.130.111.16.108 16:51, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

New Articles required edit

I think there are a number of articles that need to be created/improved

feel free to disagree or start them!

Cyber Rats edit

The more I think about it, the more I regret saying that the cyberats need an article for themselves. As far as I know, there isn't a single member of this group singled out in all of the books. I'm thinking that there's only enough concrete information to qualify for a stub article, and even then it'd just be merged with the main Deathstlaker entry. -- Raveled

well, i'm happy with having a sub-article on groups and organisations. that at least would enable us to delve deeper on the AIs, hadenmen, cyberrats, ELFS etc. -- bandit

Deathstalker Honour, Peter Savage is singled out as being a Cyberat. Zionyx 18:10, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Key Characters edit

Haden Men edit

The AIs of Shub edit

Mistworld edit

Madness Maze edit

"as well as the location of the Madness Maze before Captain Silence attempted to destroyed it."
The Madness Maze was destroyed entierly. Captain Silence turned the pinnace's disrupter's cannons on the structure and burned it like a flower in a furnace. The main characters survived because they were able to spontaneously generate a forcefield, due to the Maze's changes. The Darkvoid Device also survived, because it's the Device.

The Madness Maze was not destroyed by Captain Silence; it transported itself through time, to reappear later on in the series.

Other Groups edit

I added sections on the Blood Runners and the Wampyr. This article is getting rather long though, and might benefit from being broken up into smaller articles. I didn't want to do it without consensus though! Any thoughts? EyeSerene 14:43, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

No mention of Blue Block? They have quite a large part to play.

Hey, don't you also think that maybe the Mater Mundi has a crap load to do with the book that isn't on this page??

I agree, they're both important. Feel free to add them to the article ;) ...and please sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~). Thanks! EyeSerene 21:58, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copyedit edit

This article now has a good amount of content, but is in need of organising into a properly wikified article. I'll start the process as per guidelines on Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels. Apologies for disruption to the content whilst this is going on ;) EyeSereneTALK 07:53, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

latest update to intro has spoilers, on the first series, how do we resolve? UKbandit 09:29, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Good point! I think I've removed the spoilers, but a second opinion would be appreciated EyeSereneTALK 12:07, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

PAGE MOVE edit

This talk page and the associated article were originally on the Deathstalker (novel) page. All discussion above this note has been copied from that article. The Deathstalker (novel) article is now about the book entitled Deathstalker, not the series as a whole. EyeSereneTALK 12:23, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copyedit edit

This is now largely complete so I have removed the tag. The article is replete with red links - hopefully it will provide motivation to create these pages. I'll continue to chip away at them, but help is always welcome... EyeSereneTALK 19:50, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merging Deathstalker Universe edit

Since I have no particular familiarity with this topic, and since I was tasked with merging the content, I wanted to start a discussion here and ask folks with interest in the topic to do so. If no one has either done so or volunteered to do this within a week, I will simply redirect the Deathstalker Universe article to Deathstalker (series) and someone can drag stuff out of the article history for merging later as desired. Any takers? Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 03:06, 1 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
