Improvement drive edit

Created the article at last. But it ain't perfect yet. I hope that any of you who have knowledge of the web show share their knowledge. Still need some help in the reference, format, maybe a history or a reception section be created. Season 2 is coming and it must be covered. Any help would be appreciated.Godzilladude123 (talk)

Please do not unwikify the characters edit

This doesn't help the article at all. Zero Serenity (talk) 18:59, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Voices edit

Seeking input on an extra column for character voices if they appear in an episode. I think it's a good idea. Zero Serenity (talk) 16:27, 24 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

DEATH BATTLE! edit

DEATH BATTLE! is the actual name of the series not just "Death Battle". --2601:B:8C00:72F:507B:6124:6005:EDC7 (talk) 19:33, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Citation? And the intro logo is missing the Exclamation point. Zero Serenity (talk) 19:55, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Write-ups edit

Can't we change the write-ups for the battles? They just seem to be copy and pasted from the TV-Tropes page. I don't know who wrote what first, but it's still not exactly very good. 85.210.177.242 (talk) 17:40, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sure. I'm not the authority on this (or anything) so if you think it could be improved, do it! Zero Serenity (talk) 18:20, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Edit edit

Um im a user and I cant edit this. One thing to note is that I believe we should also have the release dates in the boxes. Also I think it should say "VS" instead of "vs." since they use VS in the titles. --TheLegendaryKRB (talk) 14:48, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

IP editors and new users are barred from editing this article for about another day because of repeated back and forth. That being said, I don't agree with what you're saying. Versus (vs.) is an abbreviation that requires a period. Zero Serenity (talk) 16:03, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Names to use edit

Since I cannot seem to put a stop or have anybody decide on what names to use, please tell me your reasons for flipping it back and forth. I think it should be the names used on the title cards when introducing the combatants, but I'll open the floor. Zero Serenity (talk) 15:32, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, you can try and work those things out, but this article has far more fundamental problems - see the tags placed at the top. Pretty soon it is going to get nominated for deletion altogether, unless some reliable sources can be found that establish notability, not to mention some justification provided for why the content is encyclopedic. Regards, hamiltonstone (talk) 01:56, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I understand what you're saying and mostly agree. Finding reliable sources is proving to be tasking since while they exist, I'm not sure they quite qualify or how to slip them into the article without it seeming out of place. Zero Serenity (talk) 02:16, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Try as I might to bring people to the table on this subject, I've requested Semi-Protection, again. Zero Serenity (talk) 18:43, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
And it's been granted for a month. Zero Serenity (talk) 20:41, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
The names used in the titles, so at least that way there's no disagreement over what to refer to them as. 85.210.181.107 (talk) 19:09, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I said title cards, not video titles. I finally sat down to view one (Goku vs. Superman, specifically) then saw it listed as Son Goku and got to scratching my head. I gotta redo this list it seems. Zero Serenity (talk) 19:14, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
But that's what got us into all these issues in the first place with people like WikiSaviour21 or whatever changing the names. Take "Zelda vs Peach" for example...those are the names used in the titles. Their title cards are "Princess Zelda" and "Princess Peach", but their introductions are "Zelda Hyrule" and "Peach Toadstool". It's too confusing and it's going to cause more issues. If we simply stick to the official titles we won't have this problem. 85.210.181.107 (talk) 19:18, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Episode 33 edit

A Screwattack Youtube video released today has confirmed the battle as Charizard vs. Blastoise vs. Venasaur. Being new, I can't edit the page myself, so I just wanted to let someone know. Rakanadyo (talk) 18:08, 31 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Can you link me to the specific video? I'll be sure to update it when you do. Zero Serenity (talk) 18:50, 31 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Special Episodes edit

I think there should be a seperate column for fights like "DEATH BATTLE! VS The World" and "Vegeta VS Mewtwo". --TheLegendaryKRB (talk) 22:19, 31 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Doesn't seem to make sense to have them be their own column. Maybe their own table. Aside, I though you were joking when you said Vegeta vs Mewtwo. Yeah. Apparently this is a thing. Zero Serenity (talk) 01:49, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Pokemon Battle Royale edit

This is a small thing but the new fight is called "Pokemon Battle Royale" http://www.screwattack.com/shows/originals/death-battle/pokemon-battle-royale-death-battle --TheLegendaryKRB (talk) 23:29, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

That should do. Once the episode goes live to me (I think it will tomorrow), I'll write up the rest. Zero Serenity (talk) 02:14, 12 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Episode 31 (Terminator Vs Robocop) edit

Two things,

1) The terminator was NOT destroyed by a pipe-bomb, crippled, yes (well who wouldnt be crippled with HALF THEIR BODY BLOWN OFF!), 2) Termy was only truly destroyed by the same kind of explosion, so that should be edited slightly.

Thanks :) 82.22.214.94 (talk) 18:23, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think you're misreading the article. It says that a terminator was destroyed with a homemade pipe bomb in the movie/TV series and that is what the producers base the winner on. Zero Serenity (talk) 18:28, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I didnt think so. I'm saying the Terminator was crippled, not completely destroyed by the pipe bomb, actually "Blown up by a homemade pipe bomb" (not the same as destroyed) is the term they use. "The terminator was destroyed in the same kind of explosion" is where they base it , that is what they are basing it on. 82.22.214.94 (talk) 19:23, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

DEATH BATTLE! VS The World Recap edit

Can someone else right a recap of DB VS the World? I HAVE NO IDEA what to write! --TheLegendaryKRB (talk) 18:04, 15 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bad edit summary edit

Whoops, my bad, my edit summary for [1] should have been "per Zero Serenity" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lixxx235 (talkcontribs) 03:42, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

It is getting a bit hassling to bat this guy who keeps changing the names. Again, it's been decided to go off the names listed in the title cards since that is most in line with the series. Zero Serenity (talk) 17:15, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

VS edit

I know ive said this before but in the title it says "VS". Not "vs." Its a small nitpick but its in each episodes title (Except for Battle Royales). --TheLegendaryKRB (talk) 01:55, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's stylized, it doesn't count. Hence why we say "Death Battle" and not "DEATH BATTLE!", only giving the latter a passing mention. 85.210.181.107 (talk) 18:38, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Do not reference Death Battle please edit

Fulgore's article just had this happen and I see it in a couple other places as well. In reception sections and other related places, until ScrewAttack goes into Reliable Source for video games, it isn't notable enough to include on character pages. Zero Serenity (talk) 15:27, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

The result of the 'battle' is an opinion (a judgment, viewpoint, or statement about matters commonly considered to be subjective, i.e. based on that which is less than absolutely certain, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts) alright. It's not like "Fulgore is better then Sektor.[link]" or anything. Not any different than any top list (all of them are also only opinions or voting results, not facts), only now it's a top list with only two competitors. --Niemti (talk) 16:43, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

But how many of those top lists come from reliable sources when we use them about video games? Nearly all of them. So that idea faceplants. Zero Serenity (talk) 16:48, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Huh? It's says "except for opinions" and it's an opinion. That's it, and that's all. --Niemti (talk) 16:53, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Death Battle is not a reliable source. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 17:05, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
"Use of this source should be restricted to opinion, interviews, and material that also appears on GameTrailers.com. Factual claims should not be cited to this source. The user blog portion of this source should not be cited." --Niemti (talk) 17:31, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Your argument is one that makes my opinion usable in this article. Death Battle's opinion is on my level. It is not reliable for use on Wikipedia. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 17:35, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Are you a SA staff member? Sure, link to your opinion videos too. (Oh wait, conflict of interests. Never midn, don't do it.) --Niemti (talk) 19:19, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Please explain why being an SA staff member would make my opinion valuable. Reminder: you're using an argument that would make any opinion by any person acceptable for use in any article. I know that you hate it, but standards are good thing. It's good to not use "literally any person with an opinion." Screw Attack is literally notable only for content that's hosted on GameTrailers as well. Feel free to argue in its favour on WP:VG/RS, but do not feel free to ignore everyone else's input and try to take ownership of articles on Wikipedia. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 19:40, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

(Aside, NARH, are you actually with SA or is this hypothetical?) Either way, I don't think SA has proven much in terms of reliability that is primary. Do they get press invitations to anything? I suppose that's the question. Zero Serenity (talk) 19:45, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am not an SA editor, no. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 19:57, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Because Wikipedia:WikiProject_Video_games/Sources that you're such a huge fan of says their opinion videos are fine, that's why. So obviously. --Niemti (talk) 20:54, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I would call ScrewAttack unworthy as the only secondary source for a different reason: it's the creator of the series, so it may as well be primary. That said, I've dug up a few other sources that are truly secondary, although I'm not at all convinced they're reliable:

Tezero (talk) 21:23, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Use of this source should be restricted to opinion, interviews, and material that also appears on GameTrailers.com." A single video appears on GameTrailers as a user video, which is not adequate for the condition. SA is only reliable for works that are supported by GameTrailers - this is precisely why it's listed as a situational source. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 02:41, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps there's that, too. That's... extremely situational. I mean, all of that but opinion can be used anyway. Tezero (talk) 03:39, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Do you really have comprehension problems or something? "Use of this source should be restricted to opinion, interviews, and material that also appears on GameTrailers.com." That's 3 different things. --Niemti (talk) 06:25, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Niemti, I'm not accepting anything you say in this discussion if you cannot even be bothered to say it in a mature tone. Please do not return if your reply is going to be the same, because I will henceforth ignore any input you make that has your usual colour. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 09:29, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Spoilers edit

Please do not post information on videos not yet hosted on Screwattack.com's website. Just because an episode is shown at a con doesn't mean EVERYONE will see it especially if not yet posted to the site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.25.117.213 (talk) 23:40, 12 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Spin-offs edit

Should a list of Death Battle spin-off episodes be added. If One-Minute Melee is impropable, how about The Desk of Death Battle!? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.226.3 (talk) 21:26, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure they're notable enough for their own episode lists, but a section at least outlining them might be due. How about that? Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 21:52, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
