Name edit

In the context of some redirect requests I just had a look at different spellings of Margules' name. Those of this article's sources I checked were pretty consistent in spelling him "DeHirsh Margules". On the other hand, a quick Google search pointed to "De Hirsh Margules" as the most common variant, with "De Hirsch Margulies" as a close second and "De Hirsch Margules" in third place. Are we sure the article has the right name? Huon (talk) 21:42, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think you make a valid point. Upon reviewing the publication "Time Painting," I see that Margules' name is spelled "De Hirsh Margules" throughout. The copy I have is in fact signed by Margules "De Hirsh Margules." The New York Times has used both "De Hirsh Margules" and De Hirsch Margules." Charles Norman uses "De Hirsh Margules." In the De Kooning article both "De Hirsh Margules" and De Hirsch Margules" are used. The Smithsonian archives use "De Hirsh Margules." So you have converted me to the idea of spelling the name "De Hirsh Margules." Should I do the edit and submit a new redirect?

I have moved the article. A redirect from the old name was automatically created. I have also created redirects from DeHirsh Margules and De Hirsch Margulies; the other variants seem less common. Huon (talk) 13:48, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
