Comment edit

I wish there was more info here. Devotchka is a really good band and a lot more could be said in this article. 69.236.22.200 23 dec 2005

I added an info box and a member list. Maybe we could get a picture for the box? I also plan to add articles for all of the albums in the future. User:Adverseentropy 17 feb 2006
Does anyone know where Devotchka got their name?69.238.211.87 15 apr 2006
The title comes from A Clockwork Orange - a line about "a little in-out with a young Devotchka"12.214.99.82 16 may 2006
I've cross-linked DeVotchKa and The Devotchkas via italicized notes at the top of their pages in order to avoid confusion. I don't know the correct format for things like that, so if it looks wrong, please change it to how it's supposed to be. user:ArbutusWD 1 jul 2006
Jesus Christ, DeVotchKa is simply a Russian for "a girl". I suppose this must be added to the article. 81.25.53.62 22 july 2008

Triple X Tango edit

Is "Triple X Tango" a real Devotchka album? It's not listed anywhere in their discography, either on their official web page or on allmusic.com.151.201.42.196 24 jul 2006

Triple X Tango was a limited release live album that is available nowhere. I've never seen anything other than a burned copy of it, but it is where the original recording of their "Venus in Furs" cover was released. They re-released that song on Curse Your Little Heart. The band seems to be content with letting that album fall into obscurity, although I think the die-hards are all well aware of it.User:Buddyholly41 1 feb 2007

MySpace edit

The WP:EL guideline lists MySpace as what to normally avoid, and notes that "the below do not override the list of what should be linked to" (in What should be linked to, #2 reads: "Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site if there is one"). There is no reasonable doubt that the MySpace is official; it is linked from the official website, which we have no reason to believe is not actually official either. So are you saying to keep it or remove it? I would say keep it, since it provides a sanctioned way of listening to the band, which is certainly going to be of interest to many people reading the page. !jim 08:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I, for one, don't think the MySpace link belongs in the article. I don't think it's necessary given that there is already a link for the "official" web site and there's a link to the MySpace page from the official web site. -- Ben (talk) 16:19, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Removed Myspace link as redundant to their official page, and per WP guidelines for myspace links (very few)Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:05, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Genre edit

Its currently listed as "rock". Could somebody expand it?Tommy Stardust 15:20, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Their entire article needs to be expanded, Im surprised this band doesnt get the same exposure as Arcade Fire or Beirut —Preceding unsigned comment added by 22justin (talkcontribs) 08:13, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Their appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien edit

I'm not sure whether their appearance on the show should be mentioned in the article, however their performance confused me after looking at this article. In their performance, they had a string quartet consisting of, if I saw correctly, two violins, a viola, and a cello. Additionally they had a drummer on a standard kit, one more person on IIRC bass guitar, and the main singer with an acoustic guitar. I'm not at all familiar with the band as this was my first exposure to them (one I did like, I might add). Maybe someone with a bit more exposure to the band could shed some light on this, which would probably be best noted in the article.Snaxe/fow (talk) 07:47, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nick Urata redirect edit

I Am Creating seperate Articles For Each band Member. I Would Like To Make A Nick Urata Article. i Need Someone To Remove The Redirect "Nick Urata" From The DeVotchKa article so i can create a seperate Nick Urata Article. Thanks Sameyejara (talk) 19:53, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

WTF? edit

C'mon Guys! I added Seperate Arcticles For Each member and now they all redirect back here. Who Keeps Doing That!! Knock It Off!!!! Sameyejara (talk) 21:11, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I checked the edit history for Urata. The content was miniscule, not even qualifying as a stub, and didnt indicate his notability separate from the band. I would recommend that you (or anyone) build up the individual band members bios in this article, and if and when they are more substantial, change the redirects to stub articles. Im sorry no one explained this here, must be frustrating (I note this is 3 years after your comment, i am adding this to help other editors understand as well)Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:20, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I Love You Phillip Morris edit

Nick Urata seems to have done the score for the film I Love You Phillip Morris. Should this be added to the article? --PaparazziPulse (talk) 12:54, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

added (not by me), but i am not sure if it was him or the band that performed, so i didnt notate the album as by him particularly. I could look it up, i suppose...Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:23, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
