"8 Days Inn"

An unsourced statement in the article reads:

| The original name of the chain was "8 Days Inn" with a large number "8" in the sunburst area of the marquee sign.

I'm certain this is inaccurate -- This illustration shows that that 'large number "8"' was an advertisement of the room rate, not part of the name of the chain. (Yet look at this postcard, with no "$" or "up": http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=310162366098. Sure looks like the name of the establishment is "8 Days Inn.")

And yet they all said "8." I also assumed, probably along with thousands of others, that the chain was called "8 Days Inn," and then later changed to "Days Inn." I never questioned this assumption. It was never called "8 Days Inn". The original sign had $8 in reference to the nightly rate. The dollar sign was eventually removed and later, the 8 was removed. This information comes from a man who knew and worked with Cecil Day before the chain's beginning. Ryan8374 (talk) 21:20, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Incredulous

This article states: "The property was constructed during a heavy rainstorm, and one family stayed at the property a week before it was completed, at Day's insistence." Somehow the claim a hotel was built during a heavy rainstrom seems amazing to say the least as a hotel usually takes months to build. If a rainstorm really lasted that long, it's surprising there was anything left of the town where it was being built. One would think it would have been washed away - afterall, the whole world was under water after it rained for just 40 days and nights...
