Having navigated here due to the Congressional vandalism controversy on this article, I feel the need to agree that the 'Political connections to Altace, pharmaceutical industry' section is out of line for this article. Only the first and last paragraph mention or in any way concern Davis, and those are the only ones that should be kept, with minor reformatting. Stating his campaign contributions from murky companies, and clearly and efficiently describing any conflict of interest, is relevant. A half article on what's wrong with said company does not belong here.

I'm not going to edit now, as this seems slightly divisive and likely to be reverted. But regardless of your political affiliations, the bulk of this section should be moved to an article on the companies in question (since the statements appear well sourced).Jovial Air 16:49, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

See my note from last week at the bottom of this talk page, under Repetition. The same content, pretty much word for word and reference for reference, is repeated in the articles for five different politicians; I think it ought to be in its own article referenced from each of the five - Foetusized 19:33, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

I suspect that User:Tdl1060 is simply editing out the WikiProject France block is due to the fact that Tdl1060 has repeatedly edited out verifiable and referenced material(approximately four pharagraphs) from the "Political connections to Altace, pharmaceutical industry" section of the David Davis (Tennessee politician) Wiki article, with some of the edited material pertaining to the former French pharmaceutical manufacturer Rhône-Poulenc.

A thorough review of User contributions (excerpt):Tdl1060 reveals that the overwhelming majority of User:Tdl1060 Wiki contributions are characterized as pertaining to Republican politicians (even those not Tdl1060's fellow citizens of Illinois) and elections, suggesting to me that Tdl1060 is not always looking to make good faith and NPOV edits for the advancement of the Wikipedia, but rather, TDl1060 is targeting specific articles for broad-brush opportunities to enforce Ronald Reagan's so-called "Eleventh Commandment": ("Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.") over all Wikipedians. 4.88.54.203 16:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

An article was published today on Search Engine Land called "SEO Tips &Tactics From a Wikipedia Insider and it has to be one of the most interesting and best written articles I have seen in a while.

The article was written by a lady by the name of Durova who is Wikipedia administrator who confronts some of the site's most disruptive editors. She uses a pen name to avoid harassment in real life."

The article is about how, in some cases, a marketer can work with Wikipedia in an ethical manner while still emphasizing an online presence. The tips are great and obviously well thought out but I found the most fascinating to be Durova's examples of how underestimating Wikipedia can be a dangerous business. In her examples she notes how the transparent nature of Wikipedia has caught anonymous users on government-based IP addresses editing political Wikipedia profiles to delete unflattering content.

For example, Durova cites how the Wikipedia listing of Tennessee state politicians Matthew Hill and David Davis was edited to remove the information that they had both accepted contributions from pharmaceutical companies. According to Durova, the IP address used to make the edits came from a congressional computer. [170.142.7.3; 143.231.249.141 ] The best part of Wikipedia is that, much to the chagrin of the illicit editor, each of these edits are publicly available - transparent indeed!

Why can't this content be kept in one article, instead of spamming it into five? David Davis (congressman) → David Davis (U.S. politician) – No reason given for move from this original title two months ago. Regardless, capitalization and disambiguator are both incorrect. Bneu2013 (talk) 08:55, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
