Lead section edit

From the introduction to this article one would conclude the Darwin D. Martin was notable for having been born in 1865 in New York. Will someone please rewrite the lead section? See WP:Lead section.—Largo Plazo (talk) 03:29, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've worked on it some; it could use some more work, though. I'm not quite sure the guy is notable enough for a stand-alone article. Does anyone besides me feel this should be merged to the Darwin D. Martin House article? -- Mwanner | Talk 23:20, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
His personal correspondence reveals a remarkable personal journey. He served on the BOT of Pine Mountain Settlement School, a rural Settlement institution in Harlan County, Kentucky. I am currently adding a large body of Martin's correspondence while he served n the PMSS Board of Trustees during the mid-1930s. This revealing correspondence sheds light on both Darwin D. Martin as well as the little explored and diverse history of the rural Settlement Movement in the Appalachian mountains. https://pinemountainseettlement.net
