I really don't know how to do this and need suggestions... if it should be done. A problem is that the prehistoric Darini appear to have disintegrated and all merged with their kinsfolk the Uluti and Iverni, contributing to the character of both the historical Ulaid, the Dál Fiatach, and the historical Érainn, dominted by the Corcu Loígde. In fact they are the strongest link between the Ulster and Munster kingdoms. Another way of saying this is that the Corcu Loígde are Darini-flavoured Érainn (or vice-versa) and the Dál Fiatach Darini-flavoured Ulaid. DinDraithou (talk) 23:55, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't mean anything else by it (you out there), but I've withdrawn my old proposal to merge these articles. The relation of Ptolemy's Darini to the Iverni is uncertain and it is possible the latter were incorporated to form the later Dáirine, who appear in their territory. It is possible they were originally distinct. Complicating the matter is that the Érainn family of Conaire Mór clearly belong to the Clanna Dedad in all traditions, but we have to remember that as King of Tara he has an unusually good relationship with the Ulaid, which suggests kinship to me, and he is evidently a close relation of Cú Roí alias Dáire alias Dáire mac Dedad alias Dáire Doimthech, ancestor of the Dál Fiatach alias Ulaid, Ptolemy's Voluntii. These kin groups also had their origins in pre-exclusive-patrilineal times, although I have seen it argued the Dáirine were patrilineal. Nora lives (talk) 02:55, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
