he was born in nazareth, israel and moved to england edit

thats pretty self-explainatory, isnt it ?

Yes, but it contradicts the article. If this is true you should change the article, but you should also provide a source as it seems more probable that he would have been born in England. marnues 03:13, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

His biography on Cradle of Filth's official site says he was born in Hertford, England, and until now I've never heard anything to the contrary. I'd say being born in Israel sounds like Damnation And A Day-inspired fiction, especially given the amount of rumour and false facts the band seem to encourage. --Moose 19:14, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Most of the "facts" on this page seem to have come from a single fansite on Geocities, which I wouldn't think was a particularly reliable source. I've just tidied up the page, but apart from rearranging everything into some kind of rough chronological order I've left the content how it was. But it could seriously do with some sources to back up a lot of what's said... Israel? Two masters degrees? Really? --Cardinal Wurzel 09:14, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Although I hear he's very well read, I removed the two masters degrees part. I've looked on the internet and only found a few quotes that said that - from fansites. The first album was recorded in 1993, meaning he would be 19 years old, and there has been a sucession of Cradle albums following. Where would he find time to do two degrees? Furthermore it said he had the choice of persuing a career in journalism or music; since the first album was released when he was 20, it seems he's already chosen the path of being a musician. So why would he do two degrees? Sorry for this long-winded anaylsis, but some of the facts seem unwarranted
  • Oh, and he's not born in Nazareth; he's born in North West LondonIn Flames 23:15, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cairo? edit

He lives in Cairo? Is that right? --Cardinal Wurzel 08:27, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Gothic Metal edit

Gothic Metal band Cradle of Filth? I know CoF's hard to classify, but they are obviously not gothic metal. It should say at the least "heavy metal", not gothic.151.205.196.180 15:34, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Done. ≈ The Haunted Angel (The Forest Whispers My Name) 16:15, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Agreed; They're often labelled Melodic black metal, but apparently they're steering away from that direction even more, so heavy metal seems to be a fair description...-from K37 02:24, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
"they sure arent gothic metal, who wrote this damm thing anayways," -Unsigned Comment by 219.88.11.95
Their genre is so debated that it doesn't matter anyway. Also, it was written by many different peoples contributions, like the rest of this website. Maurauth (talktome)(wha?) 11:09, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

YUP...he still lives in England, hope some one that has sense will actually start to write some "real" facts on here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jezzebella (talkcontribs) 14:32, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Quotes edit

Is there really a need for them? None of them are sourced, I can't find any verifiable information on them either. It's very easy to create a quote that "may" apply to someone (look at all the Internet junk associated with George Carlin). Wouldn't it be better to rid the page of them? They serve no "encyclopedic" use and seem to be used for little more than vandalbait. -- Death a horseman for a better tomorrowTM 00:32, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's why I slapped an unsourced tag there. I agree, and have removed them. ≈ The Haunted Angel //The Forest Whispers My Name// 00:35, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

facts and rumours edit

LOL! Somebody put this in the facts and rumours: "He is renowned for his vocal range. He has the ability to sing very "clean and clearly" but chooses a "dirty screaming" style." Well, HOLY SHIT!!11 WOW~!!! if he played guitar, people would be saying "he is renowned for his guitar abilities. He has the ability to play "clean and clearly" but chooses a "distorted" style." That wasnt really funny. There are thousands and thousands of people who choose to use a "dirty screaming" style...and every single one of them (fucking anyone can...) can sing "clean and clearly". If you cant sing properly, you have no hope of being able to "dirty scream". Isilioth 09:50, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Divorce? edit

An anonymous contributor keeps saying that Dani and Toni have divorced on account of Toni hitting Luna. A quick Google search has yielded absolutely no mention of this, and his page on the band's website still says they're happily married, so I've been reverting the edits. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Moose 19:37, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I couldn't find anything listed about it. I would think that it would make the rounds at least on Blabbermouth or some swooning fan about him "being on the market" etc. Then again I don't follow his personal life very closely, I just dig the music. -- Borameer 20:32, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
My guess is that it's nothing but pure vandalism. Until a source is stated, revert on sight. ≈ The Haunted Angel //The Forest Whispers My Name// 20:35, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

as a matter of fact...Dani and Toni ARE happily married and will NOT be getting divorced...As of Yesterday I personally know this and would rather not hear anything bad about their marraige again. Dani loves Toni very much and I will even make the effort to get him to post those comments as well. No one has a right to make rumors or controvercies about some ones personal life. This is why a lot of Celebrities have short marraiges. Happy early aniversary Dan, was nice seeing you.

Could someone change the date of his marriage ? he married 2005 and not 2007. I've changed it several times but someone changed it always back to 2007 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sable404 (talkcontribs) 00:00, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced Material edit

Most if it is addressed in interviews with him, which can be found on youtube, but I won't cite those videos as they're breaching copyright. Maurauth 17:23, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chips! edit

I'm sure I saw that thing about peeling potatoes in one those youtube interviews. ≈ Maurauth (talktome)(wha?) 21:57, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah it's probably true, but a source will be needed first though - one has to understand there is a shit-load of vandalism to this article though, so it's best to keep as much unsourced stuff out as possible. ≈ The Haunted Angel 22:13, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I know, but what should we do, look at the youtube vids and find what interview that was and source the interview, not the youtube link? ≈ Maurauth (talktome)(wha?) 22:42, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
If we have the link to the YouTube vid, then we simply have to provide the link after the comment. ≈ The Haunted Angel 22:49, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
But those youtube videos are copyvio arent they if they aren't released by the company doing the interview or by the band? ≈ Maurauth (talktome)(wha?) 09:00, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, never thought of it like that. I don't think it's violating copyright (people usually allow themselves to be interviewed so it can be released), but the video itself would be substantial proof of the chip thing, so it may as well be added - YouTube videos are used as sources all over Wikipedia; including, I believe, interviews. ≈ The Haunted Angel 09:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
What I mean is, that the people who interviewed them own the copyright of the video, for example, if he's interviewed on MTV then Viacom owns copyright of the video? I'll just do that for now when I get home, (youtube blocked at college). ≈ Maurauth (talktome)(wha?) 07:58, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

This Deed Poll thing edit

I've got to agree with Mr (or Ms) Anon - I can't find a single reliable source for this. Google "Dani Filth" + "Deed Poll" and all you get are pages identical to this one as it was until recently (including the imdb listing). It's just a myth that's been circulated and re-circulated. I bet you a tenner it's not true. I've deleted it until such times as someone provides a) a copy of the deed poll document (!) or b) an interview where Dani says "I changed my name by deed poll to Dani Filth". Cardinal Wurzel 18:09, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Free image of Dani Filth edit

Does anyone have a free image of Dani Filth that can be used for his article, the current fair use one has been disputed by User:Not a dog, thanks. ≈ Maurauth (nemesis) 13:08, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

There are now a few of him on Commons. -- CecilK (talk) 00:01, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Current references used edit

The official website is fine for a reference, but not really fine to reference the whole thing- some third party sources would be nice. However, there is a problem with the other two sources given- can we please acertain that the YouTube link is reliable and not a copyvio? If it is a copyvio, can we please cite the documentary without the link, and if it is reliable AND that is the place it was first published, can we perhaps have a link from somewhere official showing that it IS reliable? I find it unlikely that Dani would do an interview to be placed only on YouTube, and then, even after doing that, not mention it anywhere. As for the other one- well, it isn't reliable, end of story, and I am going to remove the link to it. J Milburn 17:58, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

His daughter edit

The article mentions that Dani and Toni have two daughters. In reality, I only know of one daughter..her name is Luna Scarlett. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.192.248.132 (talk) 03:12, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Dani and the Filths" remark edit

This unsourced detail seems harmful enough, as well as being present in a biography, so I have moved it here:

Filth ... has been accused by former members of regarding it almost as his own solo project ("Dani and the Filths", according to ex-keyboard player Les "Lecter" Smith).(This quote was actually delivered by former guitarist Stuart Anstis).

The best source I could find is [1], which isn't enough, as mentioned above.

If someone can find a better source, feel free to restore it, minus the confusion about the speaker. 68.183.26.130 05:05, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

bereft of God? edit

I would like to know the source of the following quote from the main article:

"His moniker "Dani" is Hebrew for "bereft of God", versus his real name of Daniel, or "One with God"."

My name is Daniel. I've always understood Daniel to mean "God is my judge," from the Hebrew "Dan" meaning judge, and the name of the hebrew God "El" (Elohim, etc.).

The following webpage (I'm not saying this is the most resliable source) contains my interpretation of the name. http://www.name-meanings.com/search.php

I'm not necessarily disputing the article, just wondering the source of the information.

129.237.222.129 (talk) 19:06, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that doesn't sound right to me either. What it sounds like he did was just drop the "El" (which renders "Dani-" in Hebrew as an incomplete fragment - "judged by-") and then someone made the jump of saying that would actually translate as "bereft of God", as opposed to it just having the understood meaning. ;; —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.203.241.145 (talk) 23:41, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Luciferian edit

Whilst I still think a category of one is pointless, I'm not sufficiently bothered to go for a CFD over it. However, if you want it on this page, provide a damn good source. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 11:43, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough, actually: source here [2]. My apologies. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 11:47, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's a category of one now, but it's not the type of category that can never be expanded to include others. Category:Polish popes exists, and who knows when that will be added to. Sometimes categories exist as part of an overall classification scheme rather than for the purpose of having a large category. Good Ol’factory (talk) 11:55, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Never mind the buzzcocks edit

Where it says he was widely admired for contributing to the episode. It has no citation and no source or w.e.. Im fed up of people just adding sentances for the sake of it. Im deleting it.
