Android edit

I've not found any evidence that the game was ever ported to android. Any proof? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.122.85.106 (talk) 16:23, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sources in the article, like http://www.japanator.com/danganronpa-is-headed-to-ios-and-android-in-may-23120.phtml - confirm that it was announced. I don't have access to a Japanese Android App Store, but it was never announced to be cancelled... Sergecross73 msg me 19:20, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Makoto and Junko edit

Near the end of the game, their High-school levels are renamed "Super High-school Level Hope" (for Makoto) and "Super High-school Level Despair" (for Junko). Should this be added? Pikachu Bros. (talk) 18:17, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I guess that could be good if/when a story summary/synopsis is written. Right now, with only a very basic premise written for the story, it seems like it would be kind of random to include, if you ask me. Sergecross73 msg me 18:20, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Late reply, but I forgot about Kirigiri, as she becomes SHSL Detective somewhere in there. Pikachu Bros. (talk) 17:50, 8 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Key Information and Animation Sequel Comfirmed!! edit

In Episode 13 of Danganronpa the Animation, after the credits Monobear is shown to be re-activated and then said "I'm Monobear. Your Principal, the Principal of Hopes Peak Academy", probably hinting to Kirigiri's intuition about a Despair Group, even though the Principal was claimed to be Kirigiri's father. Asami from Danganronpa 2 makes a cameo appearance. The Official Twitter site also stated a sequel at work.

Can the above key information be added to the article(s)? --(B)~(ー.ー)~(Z) (talk) 07:00, 28 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Here's a helpful reference. >> KirtZMessage 08:22, 28 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry but my Country does not accept links from Crunchyroll. But it seems like the Link is good enough as reference I guess. --(B)~(ー.ー)~(Z) (talk) 04:33, 29 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Distrust edit

Among the refideas I added to the top of this talk page last month or so, there's a Polygon article about Distrust. I don't remember the exact contents, but it might be useful. --IDVtalk 14:40, 20 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
You're right, they cover pretty much the same main points. Thanks for pointing that out. The first I had heard of this Distrust was just today, so I thought this was brand new info. Sergecross73 msg me 15:17, 20 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

The Name edit

There should be an explanation to why the game's name is "Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc" and not "Danganronpa: The Academy of Hope and the High School Students of Despair" (I mean, why "Trigger Happy Havoc" was chosen and what does it express?) إلياس الجزائري (talk) 14:33, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Find an interview with the localization team where they explain why, and it can be added.--IDVtalk 15:09, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) I mean, sure, that would be nice, but I'm not sure they've ever outright explained it? On a general, conceptual level, its pretty common practice to shorten these long, awkward subtitles for Western releases. They're common in Japanese culture, but Western audiences tend to scoff at them, preferring shorter ones that sound "tougher" or "cooler" (like "trigger" and "havok".) If you read the Gameplay and Development sections of the article, many aspects of the game revolve around guns, shooting, and bullets. ("truth bullets", "bullet time battle", etc) so the subtitle is probably just referencing those aspects. None of that should probably directly be stated in the article though, without the explicit mention of intent by the creators. As IDV mentions though, feel free to look it up though. It's awkward. There is no visual change in Makoto but his psychological skills are what actually changes as it is meant to give the player help with finding arguments. For example, one skills allows Makoto to briefly slowdown time so that the finding an issue with an argument, the player can easily take down an it.

Partly done. Revised a little more on my end. "Disparity" usually requires two objects that are being compared. Are murders being compared with the game's bright colours and aesthetics?Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 19:28, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
      • The despair kinda involves the idea of high school students killing each other and doubting on the suspects. The actress Megumi Ogata herself says that the player Makoto Naegi is meant to bring hope to the storyline by solving cases while at the same reducing the amount of deaths. It's more like a writing theme Kodaka told rather than visuals. The commentary for the visuals is that Spike didn't allow such a dark game to Kodaka due to rating issues so the original Distrust was remade in a lighter way.Tintor2 (talk) 20:11, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc casts players in the role of Makoto Naegi, a student of Hope's Peak Academy, who finds himself trapped in a game of mutual killing among his peers. The gameplay is stylistically similar to the Ace Attorney series by being centered around investigation and finding contradictions, albeit with an emphasis on faster gameplay - I feel like saying "murder mystery" here somewhere would be suitable. The original Danganronpa game engine? edit

Previously, there was information that the game was based on the Phyre Engine, but it was removed three years ago, and I am interested in the original engine, and not the anniversary edition... 8valve (talk) 01:47, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Something Awful edit

It's surprising to me that the article doesn't mention the Something Awful let's play that translated the game into english before an official english release - to me, it seemed like that thread was the catalyst for western interest in the game. After a cursory search for sources discussing this I didn't find much however - the only good source I found was a 2014 episode of Giant Bomb's podcast 'Giant Bomb Presents' where they interviewed Oren Ronen, the letsplayer behind the thread, with the interviewer saying that "I have a strong suspicion that it's because of him, that the sort of championing Danganronpa as a really interesting game for folks who are fans of visual novels, that we actually got a proper english translation" (1:00-1:12). Other than that, all I found was very brief passing mentions, with Shacknews saying that "Finally, you can upgrade from the Vita version or that Something Awful Let's Play you had bookmarked" due to the PC release, and a retrospective from Fanbyte calling the series an "obscure visual novel most people knew from a Something Awful thread". Waxworker (talk) 07:36, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think you pretty much answered your own question - it's potentially true, but isn't in the article because it's not widely cited by reliable sources. Not saying it couldnt be in the article, just saying it's easy to see how no one added it.
Personally, when I created first created the article like 12 years ago, it was because I saw a lot of reliable sources report on the release of the unofficial fan translation. I imagine that was a big factor as well. Sergecross73 msg me 14:23, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
