Note to admins edit

I know that this page has been deleted many times over the past few months, but it was always an issue of sources, not notability. I believe the sources on the page would be more than enough, but please comment if there are any other issues. SKS (talk) 06:08, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Car Accident edit

I'm wondering why my edit is being removed. Someone care to explain? I added references and all and I went according as the article said just to hope people don't get the wrong idea. Oh okay it's back I think ._. But just in case since it was removed just now.

Car Accident/Investigation (2011) edit

It has been reported that Daesung was involved in a car accident on May 31st at around 1:30am. According to police reports, Daesung hit a motorcyclist lying on the ground from a previous accident at Yanghwa Bridge.[1] It is said by the taxi driver who was also involved in the accident, that Daesung had been driving behind a car at an estimated speed of 60km/h, and due to the car in front changing lanes too quickly, Daesung was unable to see the motorcyclist on the road and passed the motorcyclist. [2] It has been confirmed that Daesung was not under the influence of alcohol.[3] Investigations are currently ongoing.

Daesung had been greatly affected by the accident and has been locking himself up in his room, refusing to talk to his other band members and his family.[4] There have been numerous support extended to both Daesung and the deceased Hyun, such as the trending of #wesupportDaesung on twitter by celebrities such as Jay Park[5] and concern shown by Lee Hyori and pianist Jung Jae Hyung and fan projects such as message books.[6]

An image used in this article, File:Daesung2.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Car accident section way too long edit

This section is way too long compared to the rest of the article. It's basically a complete storytelling of the accident, which is NOT in scope for an encyclopedia. It's like a news report for Wikinews. --小龙 (Timish) # xiǎolóng de xìnxiāng 14:47, 24 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Car accident section is way too short edit

Daesung killed a man. It was a massive scandal. This article glosses over it as if the author didn't want people to see it. This is clear bias. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.172.3.254 (talk) 22:51, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Looks like they figure that the best way to handle the issue was to censor it entirely. 24.85.252.83 (talk) 06:07, 8 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Daesung edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Daesung's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "gaon":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 13:35, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rename Request edit

  • oppose. A lot of people use their first names as stage names, for example Tarkan. Daesung's digital solos were realeased under his stage name Daesung, not his full name, see single cover 1, single cover 2. That's enough evidence that this is a stage name. I also don't see the reasoning if articles of other Korean singers can be left with their first names, like Jaejoong, why Daesung would be any different? 小龙 (Timish) # xiǎolóng de xìnxiāng 10:17, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
    • I get what you mean, but other people (like Taeyeon and Bom) follow the WP:NCP guidelines with the naming process. Just like Beyonce and Oprah. Daesung should follow the WP:NCP guidelines as well, the other members have stagenames not closely related to their real names. Only Daesung does. Tibbydibby (talk) 20:04, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Then all the others in the category should be consistently renamed as well. What makes Jaejoong any different? 小龙 (Timish) # xiǎolóng de xìnxiāng 10:20, 28 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
I saw the move request reasoning at U-know's article and it says that Korean singers should be referred to in the way media most often refers them to. Daesung is rarely named Kang Daesung in the media. He is known by his first name, just like Junsu, Jaejoong and the others. Your reasons for the move are not valid... daesung gives 6,500,000 results in Google, Kang Daesung gives 1,300,000. Newspapers like Chosun Ilbo, CNN, refer to him as Daesung only. This is a stage name. 小龙 (Timish) # xiǎolóng de xìnxiāng 21:06, 28 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per User:Teemeah. Also, please don't bring up the Girls' Generation members, as those were essentially moved without consensus. There is one editor on those articles who refuses to allow them to stay as mononyms, even though it was mutually decided long ago to leave them as single-name pages. My mistake edit

I apologize for marking this edit as a minor edit, it was not suppose to be I just did it as a force of habit. Sorry about that. Inter&anthro (talk) 05:10, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Legal case edit

About the Legal case section, the case about Daesung building is still not confirmed, all the claims are from TV Channels called "Channel A", and there is no official invitation results about it, even all the previous investigations showed nothing on that building, so why there's talk about it in Daesung page? It's not confirmed, so it should be deleted till everything is cleared. You opinions please. GD.BB (talk) 20:03, 22 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

It made news from reliable sources, if Korea Times and Korea Herald are reliable. Journalists don't normally publish fake news unless they can verify it. Wikipedia isn't here to censor stuff, what's reported may or may not be confirmed - but it is a pretty big legal case and will repercussions for his career and the could tie into other Korean entertainment industry scandals. Evaders99 (talk) 23:17, 22 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
The investigation is related to some tenants in the building, who allegedly could have violated the country's sanitary laws. Although the building is owned by Daesung's estate, the case in question is a third party (there wasn't any faulty act of contract on the part from landlord), which leads me to think that this case wouldn't need to be such a highlighted in a specific section and rather be mentioned throughout the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.228.123.230 (talk) 19:40, 21 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Evaders99: It is kind of irrelevant to the life and career of the subject of the article, whether it made news or not, it's simply just yellow press information, even if it was republished by the Korea Times and such. They frequently republish Kpop related information, even if it is a rumour, unverified or just generally unimportant, because it brings clicks and readership. Just because something is reported by the media it doesn't necessarily have to be reported by Wikipedia, too. This case is irrelevant to Daesung with regards to his notability and biography in Wikipedia. As unrelated as news reports about his hair color changes or the type of wine he likes - and Korea Herald and the like do publish such kind of articles, too, much like the yellow press. Again, because Kpop is clickbait to many Korea fans. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 17:31, 30 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
If there's no lasting impact, then I agree. We'll have to see if that's the case. Evaders99 (talk) 07:17, 1 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
