Talk:DECA (organization)/Archives/2012

Categories

Categories for competition should certainly have a section of their own. Listing them with the conferences doesn't really make that much sense. Also, under conferences there should be all the other conferences that some chapters, such as the North Atlantic one and the rest. I'll add that information hopefully tomorrow. --IceCube 06:17, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

External Links

If it is indeed appropriate to link externally to the Ontario DECA website, then adding a link to Michigan DECA is equally appropriate. In fact, the Michigan DECA website has more information about the organization and activities, and if this is a complete DECA organization Wikipedia page, it should have external links to every DECA chapter in the country for comprehensive information. DECA is a non-profit organization, and the Wikipedia page is for informational purposes only, therefore, it is highly inappropriate to prohibit other DECA chapters from adding their link to this page, as they only provide further information about the type and scope of DECA's programs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mideca (talkcontribs)

I was under the impression that the link to the Canadian DECA was a link to a national website for DECA in Canada. Am I mistaken in this belief? Does that function as one state chapter of the organization? Metros 15:45, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
DECA is an organization that is headquartered in the US, and there is only one National site. Ontario DECA and the university site link are chapters in the organization, just as nearly every state in the US has a chapter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mideca (talkcontribs)
If that's the case, then I've removed those links. Someone had once explained to me that they were wholly seperate entities of a similar mold, not that it was a psuedo-state chapter of one organization. I'm not the one who added those links, by the way, someone else did a short while back. Metros 16:05, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, each chapter is in a sense a different entity. They have their own organization and strategies and events. There are a few similar events organized by National DECA, but for the most part, the chapter organizations do their own thing. At the very least, couldn't there be a chapter section in the directory that links to this page: http://deca.org/states/index.php ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mideca (talkcontribs)
I was just trying to find that link on the website actually. That's the same thing we did at the FBLA-PBL article. There was a massive list of state chapter links on there that we reduced to the two directories that the national website maintains. Metros 16:11, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Information Box

I think this page should have an info box like the ones that FBLA and SkillsUSA have. DECA is also a high school club of the same type. I would add one myself, but i don't have a clue how to 67.182.217.161 16:50, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Revision

I think that we need to do some major revisions to this page. This article does not show a lot about DECA. I propose that we reformat it with something like the list down below. Go ahead and make changes to it, but make sure that you leave a comment about what you think. I think it is looking a lot better now that it has the info box and everything, but i think this would make it great. Omegablackbelt (talk) 22:01, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

DECA ONTARIO

DECA is growing rapidly in Canada, and there should be more information posted about all of the different Chapters that exist outside of the United States. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thinkroshni (talkcontribs) 22:43, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

2000 CDC

The CDC Conference in 2000 was in Louisville, KY. The current page says it was in New York. I don't have a cite-able source, but I know it for a fact. The DEX conference was at the Galt House hotel. I still have memorabilia from that trip. Where is the information on the CDC conference being sourced from anyway? Abinidi (talk) 20:31, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
