Merging records edit

I started reading over the main page and I am already unsure which records to pull out and only gotten to the 2014-2017 International expansion and collaborations. A lot of records start being broke that that time. We will have to decide which one's are of importance and which are enough to remove and be placed on this page. edit: I was also thinking maybe we break up the impacts? Like impact in Korea, US, Japan, etc? Not really sure about that one. Just throwing out ideas. I think all youtube records, twitter stuff, and guiness world records would be good to keep on here and remove off the main page. A table can be made like the one at the bottom of List of awards and nominations received by BTS. I also went through the main page and removed stuff I thought was too detailed when there was a page for it already. There were a few sections I was too unsure how to break down and didn't touch them in the end. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 01:41, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tagging people who contributed to discussion on main page to see what they think about removing records about youtube and twitter from the main page onto here. I think the guiness one's should stay, but can be removed if others think they should. I will note there is a chart I tagged above that has a list of BTS guiness records down already. Compared to other achievements featured on the main page those are quite trivial. If we are to remove anything, I would say those should go. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 17:54, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Reviewing article edit

I think the endorsements should be removed off this page and stay on the main one. I don't think the BTS universe needs to be summarized at all and can be deleted off the main page. It's the summary of the philanthropy and commercial influence that give me the most pause. Any thoughts on how to tackle a summary for those two sections? Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 03:11, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I've reduced the culture and legacy section. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 15:57, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Temporary restore edit

Temporary restore of material for Philathropy and other venues. The material is transferred from the BTS main page for consideration here as (i) to split the article further to another subpage, (ii) retain it here, or (iii) to fully archive it at this time. All comments welcome. As a note to Ukiss2 and Btspurplegalaxy, the transfer process from the BTS main page for the Career section has been both useful and productive. It looks like it is more than half way through the revision and editing phase which was started over the week-end. ErnestKrause (talk) 00:27, 19 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think it would be fine for it to be a subpage. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 00:43, 19 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Ukiss2ne14lyfe: The Philanthropy section does not appear to be a good match for either the main page for BTS or, in your own view, on their new Cultural impact page. It seems that hardly anyone visits that section for edits or expansions on the main page for BTS in months. One suggestion might be to merge it with the Love Myself page as a "Related philanthropic ventures" section or "Other philanthropic ventures" section. Another separate thought would be to merge the two together, the Love Myself article and the BTS Philathropy section, into a new subpage named "Philanthropy of BTS", which would have about 10-11 pagagraphs after the merge. Either way, that would also be useful in the current downsizing of the BTS main page and make it look better as a whole. Any thoughts? ErnestKrause (talk) 00:21, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree with your idea. I just think the Philanthropy section takes up to much space on their main page. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 01:25, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think if we change the Love yourself campaign page to a philanthropy page it would make sense. Endorsements and philanthropy don't have anything to do with a cultural page, and when I looked around other pages made those separate pages as well. For example, the Philanthropy of Michael Jackson is very well organized and shows good ways it could be done. Honestly, the biggest parts are the career section that needs to be diminished. I've been picking at it all week, but no one else seems to want to tackle the actual problem with the page. Philanthropy and endorsements are nothing compared to the career section. I even tagged people and they had no comments.

-EDIT- I think we should make a page like List of Michael Jackson records and achievements] for the career section. I kept trying to figure out how acts like Madonna, Queen, MJ, etc weren't bigger and stumbled across this. 06:44, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk)

@Ukiss2ne14lyfe: Agreement for all three editors on the "Philanthropy of BTS" page as worthwhile to do at this time. Btspurplegalaxy and Ukiss2 can start preparing and merging the Love yourself campaign page and decide on the best name for the merged article when ready. That would save about 20Kb to 25Kb on the BTS main page which is very useful. Regarding the "Endorsements" part of that, I think that the tie-ins with marketing and advertisement make at least some Cultural impact unavoidable. For example, when musical groups make endorsements for soda pop commercials played during the Super Bowl half time show, then the Cultural impact is usually very high-profile and very substantial. Regarding the last issue of looking at List of Michael Jackson records and achievements, then it looks like the FL page for List of awards and nominations received by BTS is in pretty good shape (FL quality shape). The BTS awards and nomination page is also fairly current as well. Btspurplegalaxy and Ukiss2 can start on the "Philanthropy of BTS" whenever they are ready to start. ErnestKrause (talk) 19:04, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, then I agree they can tie in. I think the article name for this one should reflect endorsements are on this page though. I don't think anyone would know to look on a cultural page for it. I'm tagging out for helping to merge phil and ly page. Doing this and editing down the BTS page has me burned out for now. At least I just finished editing the career page today. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 19:09, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Btspurplegalaxy: It sounds like you and Ukiss2 are in agreement about the Phil and ly page, though she is taking a Wiki-break at this time. If you could do the Phil and ly("Love myself") page, then I can go ahead with the Endorsement merge and try to do it over the next few days. Does that sound ok? ErnestKrause (talk) 23:16, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
That sounds fine with me. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 00:14, 21 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@ErnestKrause: I've just finished with it. I reorganized it but it still needs work such as a leading paragraph. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 03:27, 21 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Just linked the merge of Endorsements to this page from the main page. BTS main page is now reduced to about 244KB with the good efforts of Ukiss2 and Btspurplegalaxy. ErnestKrause (talk) 23:07, 21 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I've happened to see that the User:EranBot has marked this page for potential copyright. I've long had the Template:Copied added so unless I've done it wrong then there shouldn't be a problem. Someone might need to double check it. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 00:52, 22 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Title edit

Is there a particular reason why the title includes "impact and legacy", whereas all other cultural impact articles about other musicians don't include the legacy part? ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 06:27, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

It's titled that way because the two sections were merged together from the main BTS article during its bulking down. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 18:53, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Article improvement discussion edit

RegularboyA I agree the page needs work to be done. Therefore rather than making a few edits and then immediately tagging it for deletion, I've done you the courtesy of starting the discussion on further improving the page so that it can be brought closer in line with similar articles. Keep in mind that no two cultural impact articles have to be the same, but obv as you noticed in your edit summaries, there's stuff that needs trimming or further expansion. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 04:11, 18 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, this is what I meant. RegularboyA (talk) 14:45, 18 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
