Anti-globalist youth?

I'm removing the line about Cuba Cola being the cola drink of choice for the anti-American and anti-Globalist youth of Sweden, but seeing as someone saw fit to re-add assertion it seems necessary to take this to the talk page. On an anecdotal level, I have been (and to a certain extent, still am) involved leftist, anti-globalist circles and I have never seen anyone seriously propose (or actually doing so) specifically drinking Cuba Cola as an alternative to American cola drinks. The closest I have come is the advocating of boycott of American products, including for example Coca Cola and Pepsi, but never with any specific replacement brand recommended/approved - you could just as well drink Jolly Cola as Cuba Cola if you wanted to continue with your cola consumption. Some googling seems to confirm by lack of evidence that there is no significant trend of Cuba Cola being the anti-American cola™.

The only specifically anti-American/anti-Globalism context Cuba Cola does show up in, both in my experience and in the googling, is as a gimmick. While googling I found that on one occasion Ung Vänster (Left Youth) in Olofström had served red Pølser and Cuba Cola on May Day, and I myself have been to a few Communist-themed masquerade parties where Cuba Cola was served, and I have been to a US-themed party where Coca Cola and root beer was served. However, being sporadically used as a cutesy gimmick does not make Cuba Cola anti-American any more than it makes Coca Cola and root beer the pro-American soft drinks of choice or Pølser the pro-Communism sausage of choice.

In regards to the added source (kudos on adding one), the only reference to popularity among the anti-American youth in the blog article is in fact this Wikipedia article, so it is a circular evidence chain which does nothing to add to the credibility of the claim. Of course, anecdotes are anecdotes and are to be treated as such, but during my short "research" on the topic I found very little to dispute them, but I wish you better luck in your search. --kissekatt (talk) 22:12, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
