Talk:Crystal Palace Baltimore

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

This article should be "Crystal Palace Baltimore" as that is the official name for the club. "Crystal Palace USA" is what it is referred to in England, and whilst it was being set up —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.158.137.195 (talkcontribs).

I've moved the article to the correct title. --Dreaded Walrus t c 18:16, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Current squad edit

According to this article Crystal Palace Baltimore only have 12 players (due to some being on loan). Surely this can't be correct, my Sunday league team has a bigger turn out. extraordinary (talk) 09:55, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Average attendance edit

The average attendance figures listed in the year-by-year table were calculated based on the numbers provided in the box scores in the United Soccer Leagues official website ( http://www.uslsoccer.com/index.html ). Unfortunately I'm not able to input the 2007 average because of incomplete information. The attendance for the July 25, 2007 match was never mentioned in the box score or any of the articles concerning the final result. The ballclub drew crowds less than 1,000 in each of its other nine contests that season. The Ink Daddy! (talk) 06:34, 24 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jumping the gun edit

Claiming there will be a future Baltimore NASL team borders on original research and crystal balling as there are no verifiable sources announcing this is definitively happening. The only primary source I've ever seen is dated December 2010. It states CPB has an "intended re-launch" date for 2012 but makes no grand announcements about the future of the club. This is an important distinction as it makes no promises that there really will be a Baltimore team. As a result, we should not be renaming this article anything other than "Crystal Palace Baltimore" until we know something more definitive. Getting rid of the brand could mean reestablishment of a new club (and thus a new article) for all we know. Until we have all the facts, nothing should be a forgone conclusion. --Blackbox77 (talk) 18:52, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

From recent media promoted by the NASL, the league states repeatedly that Baltimore will be joining the NASL at the same time as the San Antonio club. Also, references from the Crystal Palace Baltimore page also state the the owners of the club were re-branding, meaning it the club will keep the history of Crystal Palace Baltimore, but merely will make superficial changes due to the split with Crystal Palace FC. --IncredibleSE 15:01, 20 June 2011 {UTC-6}

Would you please share this recent media? If these repeated statements have stronger language than the older report I mentioned, it could be worth a second look. Also can you point me to CPB's page? I think this ownership group's intentions should not be confused for something that is definitively happening. I don't mean to be a bully but we should hold these pages to high standards. Saying this is a superficial change is original research unless you can point to some document or quote that explicitly says what you claim. --Blackbox77 (talk) 00:14, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

This team has neither undergone a name change (although it still intends to) nor been confirmed as a future NASL team. Just because the ownership intends to reenter NASL does not mean they officially are coming back. These changes need to be sourced. --Blackbox77 (talk) 04:14, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
