I found this plant mentioned in Handbook of Northwestern Plants by Helen M. Gilkey and La Rea J. Dennis, Revised edition 2001. The entry, on page 21, describes Cryptogramma acrostichoides, R. Br., American Parsley Fern.: Rhizomes much branched; leaves densely tufted, dimorphic, somewhat leathery, 2-3-pinnate, fertile ones erect, up to 4 dm. tall, sterile leaves lower and more or less spreading; sporangia hidden by the revolute margins (false indusia) of the leaf segments.
