History edit

I miss any account about when and how the site was discovered, as the article says it was protected in the 60s but the massacre only in the 70s, which makes no sense without additional information 47.64.245.228 (talk) 10:29, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

There may have been other archaeological sites in the Crow Creek area that warranted protection and designation, and only much later, with further survey work, were the bones discovered, and the massacre site excavated. But I agree the reader shouldn't have to speculate like that, it could use a detail or two to tie it all together. Boneyard90 (talk) 12:48, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Added Legacy section edit

Added a "Legacy" section to show the influence of this discovery and study of such a large group of human remains, as well as the agreement reached with Native Americans about reburial - issues discussed, and influence on the World Congress in South Dakota, as well as later legislation in SD, Canadian provinces, and US federal laws, especially 1990 NAGPRA. Lack of 'massacre' in the lead of this article about a massacre edit

Hello, a reader would assume that an article about a massacre would describe some sort of attack and killing of people, but the lead just says that the Crow Creek massacre occurred at this time, in this place, there was an excavation, some background about who lived there, some presumably defensive information, then finally some mention of an attack. Why is it beating around the bush? It's only in the fourth paragraph that it really begins explaining what the massacre was so that we can actually use any of the contextual information already provided. 2600:8800:239F:A900:387D:29B0:D8CE:7923 (talk) 15:25, 23 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
