3 Different Articles

This is really about 3 different articles in one. 1. Bugs Bunny Series 2. Mickey Mouse Series (sans the 2 that were a part of the Bugs series) 3. Kemco's various licensed character game swaps.

I'm considering wittling this article down to just the Bugs Bunny Series (and associated games that relate to it), then moving the rest of the content to another article (or two) to discuss the other points. I mean really, why are we looking at the evolution of the Japanese Mickey Mouse series getting a Ghostbusters release in the US in this article? It has nothing to do with the Crazy Castle series.

I disagree. It's all about the gameplay, not the plots. Woody Woodpecker in Crazy Castle 5 keeps all of this in one article. Parrothead1983 (talk) 18:16, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

What's up etc

One thing puzzles me. The NES and Game Boy versions of the first Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle are substantially the same game; according to the article they are based on Roger Rabbit in Japan and Mickey Mouse in Japan respectively. Is it the case that Mickey Mouse was a Japanese Game Boy character swap of Roger Rabbit, and if so which came first? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 17:19, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

History

This sounds like original research, but it sounds quite obvious, it may not need any citations.

• While Kemco tried to release their first game, Roger Rabbit, outside of Japan, they noticed that there was already an NES game based on the same movie, so Kemco changed Roger Rabbit to Bugs Bunny, because they are both the same animal. Sometimes Capcom USA held the license to release Disney-related video games back then, sometimes Bandai and LJN held the rights.

• For the Game Boy version in Japan, the license to promote Who Framed Roger Rabbit expired, because of the movie being outdated. However, while the movie belongs to The Walt Disney Company, they instead used Mickey Mouse characters, Disney's flagship series for the Game Boy version in Japan. Regions outside of Japan continued to use Merry Melodies characters.

• While Kemco released Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure, they had their license for releasing Warner Bros.-related video games replaced with the license for releasing Universal Studios-related video games. Therefore, Kemco was no longer allowed to use Merry Melodies characters, and started using Woody Woodpecker, because he was one of the main characters in Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure.

Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout a Crazy Castle game?

How is Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout classified as a Crazy Castle game? Gameplay and objectives are drastically different to that of the basic Crazy Castle game. Birthday Blowout objectives are those found in the basic platformer, get from point A to point B to complete the level, plus there were level bosses. Where as any Crazy Castle game require the player to collect the required number of objects, in most cases keys, to unlock the exit to complete the level. Some others such as Mickey Mouse IV (a.k.a. Garfield Labyrinth, The Real Ghostbusters, etc.) and Mickey's Dangerous Chase also share several similarities to Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout, most notably being platformers instead of moving from one floor to another through stairways, pipes and other places; however, some are more like spin-offs. Platform?

I wrote an entire paragraph surprised that this series well known to be puzzles with action elements is described as platformers...

Until I found out this is a very recent change on this page by one user. The user cites no sources for this, which means the genre is just original research. For shame.

The only way you could think Crazy Castle games aren't puzzles if you haven't played any for more than 10 minutes. Without thinking, you will get softlocked in second level of BBCC. This is obviously acknowledged by gaming press.

Anyway, I'm gonna fix that when I have the time, and cite some sources for this being a puzzle game to ensure this silliness never happens again. Shinobody (talk) 19:57, 4 September 2021 (UTC)
