Crash Not With Activision! edit

On December 7th of 2013, the trademark was updated to 'Cancelled'. Activision no longer owns Crash Bandicoot.Trademark Search.

Not true, they still own it, but they cancelled some obsolete trademarks due to not being able to transfer ownership from Sierra:

In Regards of the removal of Japanese Crash Bandicoot information. edit

I thought I'd just make a post about it in here about it...

Someone has removed all the information pertaining to the Japanese version of Crash Bandicoot games, and I seriously do not want to go through every single article to revert these changes. I refixed the entry in Crash 3, but this is because I was able to backtrack the information.

There has always been a reason that the information was provided, and now it has been suddenly removed without reason. I was fighting over a change made to the Crash Bandicoot 3 entry, as the person kept on removing the japanese title given for the series. Now it seems after I had made the statement in the talkback entry as to why I kept reverting his change, the person has went through almost every single entry, removing every trace of the Japanese information in regards to Crash Bandicoot. This bothers me, not because simply the fact the information probably shouldn't be included, given this is an english wiki, but the informaiton has been provided as a whole for a long time. The information that has been affected were mainly the voice cast and title listings.

I don't really support this change, as he did not even give a single arguement for the changes made to the wiki Articals. Another reason I do not support the change is that while the game is indeed american made, the Crash Bandicoot games have always been popular in the Asian territory (which use the Japanese localization). And if anyone wished to look up information inregards to the Japanese version, wikipedia was an easy source to look for this information. If anyone could restore the information that was provided in the past, this would be great. 71.72.38.203 (talk) 00:06, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Crash or Crash Bandicoot edit

I think that the name of this article should be changed to Crash Bandicoot (series). Most of the important games are called Crash Bandicoot: ______. The Sierra games, Crash Boom Bang!, and Crash Nitro Kart are the only ones to not have Bandicoot in them, and most of those are spin-offs. There's no doubt that the next Crash game won't have Bandicoot because it will be made by Sierra, but I still think it should be changed. Sabertooth1000000000 (talk) 02:02, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Crash Nitro Kart
  • Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage

  • Crash: Mind over Mutant

That makes 7 out of 15 games with Bandicoot in the title, which is less than half of the games in the series. If the next game has the word Bandicoot in it, maybe we'll change our minds. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 20:13, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

What you said about Sierra is biased, it isn't down to Sierra that its just called Crash it's because its easier to say, besides, in some places Crash: mind over mutant is extended to Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant, but, other than you biasedness I Agree, Most Sonic games don't have The Hedgehog in the title but the series is still called Sonic the Hedgehog —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.9.196.38 (talk) 14:27, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: don't move this page, but change Crash Bandicoot to a disambig Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:34, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

{{movereq}}

Crash Bandicoot (series)Crash Bandicoot — Since the launch of the first game Crash Bandicoot has developed into a wide series consisting of numerous games and a wide variety of spin-offs. Thus Crash Bandicoot is now more commonly referred to as a series rather than as simply the first game. The move is also supported by the disambiguation section of the naming conventions for the series. Hence the first game should be moved to Crash Bandicoot (video game) and the series page should be moved to Crash Bandicoot. An example of how this has been done before is that Final Fantasy directs to the series page while the first game, Final Fantasy is under Final Fantasy (video game) KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 12:30, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think Sonic the Hedgehog would be a better example to follow than Final Fantasy. The name "Sonic the Hedgehog" can refer to the game series, one of the games in that series, the character itself, or any number of similarly named concepts. The Sonic the Hedgehog wiki serves as a disambiguation page for all of them. So I think Crash Bandicoot (series) is fine right where it is, as is Crash Bandicoot (character). But moving Crash BandicootCrash Bandicoot (video game) would make sense, if Crash Bandicoot were to be turned into a disambiguation page.
Another alternative, if you don't believe that a disambiguation page would be required in this instance, would be to move Crash BandicootCrash Bandicoot (video game), turn Crash Bandicoot into a redirect to Crash Bandicoot (series), and leave the about template currently at the top of that page to serve as appropriate disambiguation. 69.181.227.133 (talk) 22:40, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Crash Bandicoot (series) edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Crash Bandicoot (series)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

  • From Coco Bandicoot: "Overview: Crash: Mind over Mutant Q&A". Gamer's Hell. Retrieved 2009-03-22. The only thing we weren't able to squeeze into the game was Coco as the second playable character in coop mode. It's not her character model that's the problem, but animations. To make Coco believable as a platforming, fighting character we felt she needed her own combat style and moves. It would have looked too weird if she moved the exact same way Crash does. And so she has her own animations. She looks great, but animations take a lot of memory.

The series is surely the primary topic. Last month it was viewed over 55,000 times. [1] In comparison, the disambiguation page was viewed less than a third of that - 16,578. Character Table is pointless and unnecessary. edit

OK, since people clearly can't seem to understand why this is a bad idea, let me spell it out for you guys. There's multiple reasons why trying to have a character table just doesn't work.

  • The obvious problem, it's too big. Can't you guys see that to view it properly, you have to scroll the entire page sideways? That kinda defeats the entire purpose of even having it in the first place.
  • The other major problem I have is that this is completely unnecessary. Think about it...is there a table like this for Mario? No, of course not. Sonic doesn't have one either. Neither do the likes of MegaMan or heck, even Spyro doesn't have one of these. So there is no reason why Crash should be a special exception. The only way these tables can really work is with fighting game franchises, and as surprised that I am that there hasn't been a fighting game amongst it, the Crash Bandicoot series is not that genre.
  • Finally, this is a nitpick, but there is no such character as "Emperor Velo XXIVV".

So, please, this table is pointless, now can we please stop adding it? It's too long and is inconsistent with other articles. 85.210.179.198 (talk) 06:05, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
