Cradley Heathens edit

When I used to watch speedway when the Heathens were going, they were known as 'Cradley Heathens', not 'Cradley Heath Heathens'. Even their own adverts listed the team as 'Cradley "Heathens"' (e.g. I've found this in a 1978 Speedway Star with a Cradley Heath Speedway advert for 'Cradley "Heathens" versus Leicester "Lions"'). So, shouldn't this article be named 'Cradley Heathens'? --Michig (talk) 07:09, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. I always remember them as "Cradley Heathens" in the late 70s / early 80s. Their home programmes say "Cradley Heath Speedway - The Heathens" so it's possibly open to the interpretation of the home programme when they travel away. This merchandise goes with "Cradley Heathens" http://www.badgecollectorscircle.co.uk/assets/badges/user/64_1311180873_7316_300_300.JPG Rcclh (talk) 20:51, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposal to merge Dudley Heathens and Cradley Heath Heathens into Cradley Heathens edit

I am proposing this now because Dudley Heathens have just been officially renamed Cradley Heathens, which was the name of the old club (despite the current title of this article). After the renaming we now have an old club and a new club with the same name, with sufficient link between the two (new club set up by people associated with the defunct club) to have all of the information in one article. Any views welcome. If there are no views expressed against it I'll merge in a week or so. Thanks. --Michig (talk) 19:47, 12 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
