- No, because in the case of New York boroughs, the counties at least nominally exist; therefore, they do not meet the definition of the term in the article. 70.39.231.20 (talk) 00:18, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
The total number of county equivalents as indicated was still 3,141, since in the same year that Clifton Forge city was disestablished (2001), Broomfield County in Colorado was founded.
