Merge? edit

I notice that the article about Count Arthur Strong's Radio Show! is much the same as this article, and considerably better referenced. Quite a large proportion of this article is a radio episode list, which would probably be better on that article. I know the character predates the radio series and is found in other media, etc, but would the two not be better as a single entity, or at least with the episode information moved and this article a 'character' study? I wrote the bulk of the episode list and agree that it should be moved to the other article and that this should become a character study as you suggest. I will move the episodes soon and then do other tasks to merge it later. Geum rivale (talk) 23:55, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've added a tag proposing the merge - Geum rival, are you happy to do it? If not, I could give it a go but your familiarity with the subject definitely surpasses mine! ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 17:59, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Why not rename this page Steve Delaney and make it a biographical page about the actor rather than the character? The character could then be redirected to the main page for the show. Listened to an episode this evening on Radio 4 - brilliant. BartBassist (talk) 19:28, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
I agree that there is duplication between these pages and that they should be merged into one and will try and do this over the next few days. Not sure how to rename the page to create Steve Delaney article but will read up and give it a go. Geum rivale (talk) 00:34, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Renaming an article requires input from some authorised wiki-bigwig. But there is an artificial way to do it - the article Steve Delaney already exists, as a redirect to the Count Arthur Strong page. You can cut & paste the content of the County Arthur Strong page to the Steve Delaney page, and set the Count Arthur Strong page up as a redirect. The disadvantage of this is that the history and discussion will still be linked to the Count Arthur Strong page, rather than the Steve Delaney page. The wiki-bigwigs therefore advise people not to use the cut & paste method, but given that the Count Arthur pages are of relatively specialist interest, I would hope that if we keep it quiet, no bigwigs would notice. Besides, I reckon that Count Arthur would approve of the cunning ruse - canning roots - canned rats - sodding rodents, inflagrating the cupboards - OH SODDIT. If any bigwigs complain, we can just start saying "Yiurse" repeatedly. BartBassist (talk) 16:18, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Given that Steve Delaney is currently said to be in discussions with writers Graham Linehan and Jeremy Dyson with a view to bringing the "Count" character to the small plasma device at some point in the near future, surely the more appropriate action, if any is needed, would be to rejig the Count Arthur Strong's Radio Show! link as another re-direct to the Steve Delaney page? Re-directing the other way, to a single show title page, seems to assume that nothing further will become of the actor responsible, when there's actually nothing to indicate that he couldn't become a much more widely-accepted comedian than he is now. 86.112.60.194 (talk) 20:01, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don;t think it is sensible to redirect a character to the actor that portray's it as I feel that is even more restrictive - if Steve Delaney creates more characters they should surely redirect to the programme they feature in so believe this should stay as it is. I have redirected Count Arthur Strong to the radio show and am leaving the Steve Delaney page as is. Geum rivale (talk) 01:39, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I do not think that it should be deleted because I have put days into it and i don't want to see it destroyed 46.254.249.237 (talk) 19:00, 28 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Give your reasons for keeping it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Count Arthur Strong, not here. -- Dr Greg  talk  19:31, 28 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
