Why redirect to this article in lead sentence?

Why are you directing readers to this article in the first sentence? There's no point in wikilinking to this article in the first sentence, other than to annoy readers. Also, why link to tumbleweed, an article that isn't about that species? Huh? --KP Botany (talk) 23:56, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Then put a sentence in and redirect to an article about that, but don't redirect the article to this article in the first sentence without an explanation. Also, note, now that you've made "bugseed" a dab page, there's no need to wikilink it to its disambiguation. This is handled by adding a small note in the article or to the top, when it is a direct redirect. Probably the dab is the place to discuss it being a common name for many plants, or, if you find some source about the reason for the common name you can include a link to other plants with the same common name.

Grammar

The article lead now says the goosefoot family known commonly as bugseed ... That is grammatically incorrect; the family is not known as such, and not all members of the genus are known as such either.
