Talk:Cool for Cats (song)

Does anybody know the identity of the uncredited girls who provided the vocals for the title after the four verses? Celtmist 21-10-05

One of them was Michelle Collins, then aged only 16. Dbromage 08:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

"I got my girlfriend and a couple of her mates in to sing the backing vocals on it and it slotted into place easily" -- Glenn Tilbrook, from Jim Drury's Squeeze: Song By Song (p. 57) Mrmctorso

Surely this track is to the eighties what (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction was to the sixties? Avalon 11:34, 16 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

What's this mean? edit

"Everyone knows that Dave and Russ are just to cool for cats."

Encyclopaedic? I think not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.23.146.66 (talk) 02:16, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cockney? edit

"Difford brought a cockney accent to the way the lyrics were sung which makes it distinctive as well."

It's nothing like a cockney accent, it's a standard "Saaf London" accent. As Gifford is from Greenwich, South London, this is hardly surprising. Although the accent is pronounced, Gifford's diction is clear, and without the normal glottal stops and h-dropping you would expect from cockney. Note in particular that Gifford clearly pronounces the h in "horses" ("she lets loose all the horses"); he sings "I'm seeing *my* reflection" (would be "*me* reflection") etc.92.26.81.100 (talk) 13:10, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sounds like bollocks to me, since South Londoners also drop aitches Marchino61 (talk) 14:03, 19 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
